I agree that previews can be annoying, but are nice at times to see a clip of a upcoming movie.

You cannot skip past the FBI warning, but after that you can either skip or fast forward on your remote to get past these.

You "skip ahead with the chapter button" guys are missing the point completely.

Instead of saying "Yea, it sucks, deal with it, dont be lazy", and take the easy way to poke fun, why not actually say not continue in with this other growing trend of "so what if its not working right, its HD DUDE!!" and actually expect more out of the high price of these things.

Why not think, "You know what, hes right, it is silly we cant just bypass this, a medium not nearly as good (DVD) has this on every single disc and player".

I dont care that the previews are there (and tons of them). I care that I have to click a button 7+ times to get there. Try and expect more from your next gen. Dont settle for half ass.

I like the way Ruscico places the "coming attractions" in their menus. It's at the end of the menu as an option. You don't have to do anything, unless you want to look at them. Then you just use the clickie.

I work with geniuses like you from time to time. The "Duct Tape" generation as I like to refer to them as. The guys who will throw a band aid over something every day, and do the same quick fix over and over instead of finding a way to fix it right the first time, and not have to deal with it again.

I expect more from Blu-ray. Apparently you dont. Yes, its just previews. Yes, we can hit the chapter button. All im trying to point out is, why should you have to? That may be ok for you, but it irks me.

Its not a matter of being lazy. Its a matter of not every player being able to get out of this with ease (and its not like I have some jim bob player) and thus, having to suffer through something that nobody really should.

If I wanted to sit through 20 minutes of previews, Id go to the damn movies.
+1 I'm also sick of so many previews on discs. It's not so much of a big deal if you can just skip all of them by pressing 'Menu'. But on 3:10 to Yuma, you can't. There are literally as many previews as going to a more expensive movie theater.

Yes, you can 'easily' skip the previews by hitting skip a total of 7 times. But I paid full price for that movie. And for that, I'd expect they'd at least let you skip to the menu.

I enjoyed the Rambo films as much as the next guy, but overweight looking botox faced Stallone at 50+ running through the jungle is seriously testing my faith in old John Rambo.

I agree with the op. if you want to see the previews then there should be an option in the main menu. Where by the way the disc should load to when it is first put in.

Try 60+.

Sly was born in July, 1946; he's three years and two months older than I.

Stallone, Try 60+. But back to the point, yeah it is annoying to have the previews come up automatically instead of the Main Menu. It sucks, but hey, that's life & if that is the worst thing that bothers you in any given day then consider yourself very lucky.

I have found a minor annoyance in releases that jump straight to the movie. It does not allow me to properly select the audio track or subtitles before the movie starts.
I agree. Every movie should go to the main menu by default when it loads up.

Wow, pretty heated argument here over skipping previews. I guess people don't understand that studios want you to watch the previews. If I were a studio exec, I'd make everyone watch the previews too (also allowing ff them). Also, Blu-Ray never touted "No previews on discs" in their advertisements. Home video has always had previews and I just figured it was something to be expected. Nothing to get angry about. Maybe I've been brainwashed by corporate America into accepting previews on discs. Who knows. Who cares.

Isn't one of the nice things about this forum that we can voice opinions and hope to have industry insiders read them? This can be easily changed (and corrected) by the people who design and manufacture these discs.

Why not "opt in" instead of "opt out" with regards to previews??

People who see a film several times no doubt don't want to "opt out" all the time. I think the menu should come up first thing as the default view. Then you can choose whatever you want, previews, the main film, the extras, etc!

I agree that this is nothing to get angry about. I also understand that they want you to view previews so that they may entice you or show you something that you may have initially thought you had no interest in.

The point is that at Blu-ray.com, we actually have a voice that can tell studios how we, as consumers, would like blu-ray to shape up to be. We, as consumers, have an ultimate responsibility to voice our opinions in what we would like to see be done and not be done. We just need to do it in a more constructive manner. ^^

I dont mind the previews being there as Ive continually said. I understand why they are there. I do watch them if its a movie I dont know about, or a new preview to a movie I cant wait to see.

The problem is, after you've seen them once (or multiple times for those who just cant wait to see their favorite flick), I personally would like the ability to not have to sit through all that every single time without having to hit chapter next X amount of times.

+1 for PS3 skipping them . Infact I just hit Square once and it takes me right to the menu.

If other players menu button does nothing.. maybe a firmware update is in order.
