Just ordered the orginal A Nightmare On Elm St. through Aamzon.com under the "new from" tab. Got it new still sealed for $4.91+shipping.. Now I may get it sooner than Amazon would. Its from a independent dealer, never had problems from them before. Now, should I still buy the new Blu thats coming out next week? Allso for those who own the orignal what are thier thoughts on it? AQ/PQ? I figure $5 I can't go wrong...

So? How does the PQ of this NOES set compare with the PQ of the BD of the original NOES? Just as good, I hope?

The first Elm St. in the boxset (which I assume is what you're inquiring about) is more than likely the exact same disc as the single release. The graphics on the disc MIGHT be different, but the PQ/AQ is 99.9999999% likely to be identical (however, we won't know for sure for at least a couple weeks).

I think it would be just cheaper for em to be the same disc, nothing extra done to it.

Alright, watching Pt 2 now.

Got some snaps, not sure how good the pics turned out but I will say.... the PQ and AQ is ****ing AWESOME. Easily the BEST Elm St. 2-3 will get. Not too much grain either. I'm gonna go and say the pq for pt 2 is BETTER than NOES pt. 1.

Here are some snaps for you guys... this is the first time i've done this.

pt. 3 (only shot i could get bc my ****en batteries were low - overall pq and aq is great!)

One thing I'm noticing now is Elm 3 has a bit more grain than the 2nd.

If the original NOES blu-ray was good for you then this is a must own or better yet wait for the UK Boxed set. I'm nabbin' that too.

The color on your tv looks to be a bit blown out. Should turn it down a bit.

for some reason you comparing part 2 pq with the orignal blu depresses me as i wanted the orignal to look the best as thats my favourite, do you think the orignal blu pq is the best it can ever look or is there any room for improvement ?

I've been watching and loving it like this since 2009. I think it's just the camera.

There is always room from improvement for anything and everything. Like I said, if the first movie was good for you then the 2nd will blow you away, the 3rd goes a notch down though, not as good as the first 2 but still better than DVD.

Hard to judge from your pics but it's good to hear the picture looks awesome. Can't wait to get the box set.

Thanks for posting those pics! I'm surprised by them having the two movies on the same disc with extras that the video quality is not downgraded. Great news though!

Why wouldn't it be? You want some grain but not a lot. Or do you like being distracted by excessive amounts of grain?

The pic for part 2 is actually a publicity shot for part 4 (but seeing as Freddy's Nightmares came right on the heels of pt. 4, you could argue I'm splitting hairs). The shot of Heather Langenkamp is from pt. 1.

Part of me is happy we're finally getting these, but another part of me wants to tell WB to take a flying fu¢k for the lack of care put into these releases (this and the upcoming box set). I get that these films are "small potatoes" compared to the rest of WB's catalog, but while these films fanbases may be relatively small, they are (more or less) fiercely loyal.

Having read/posted in this thread since damn near day 1, I've noticed post after post of people saying how much they hate part (insert your most hated sequel here), yet the vast majority want the entire series (which is the main reason there's more talk on this thread about the U.K. box set than the BD this thread is actually about). I, like many on here, have NL's original NoES DVD box set, and I've had since it first came out. If WB actually took the time/effort/resources to give us something on par w/ that, I'm sure many of us would pay $100+ for it.

If WB can't be bothered, do what Sony recently did with Fright Night and license them out to a company that actually cares about these films. Sure, that means I'll be paying way more than $50 for 'em, but at least I'll feel like I got my money's worth, not lamenting about how awesome this set could have been.

I'm in a holding pattern for now. I want to see reviews on this and the UK box set before I make any moves.
