Default Andy Parsons: Chairman BDA did not know about Warner switch

Surprising to me that the Chairman of the BDA did not know about the Warner going Blu until it was announce.

Quote:
01.18.2008 — Andy Parsons, chairman of the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), didn’t find out about Warner Bros. decision to release titles exclusively in his camp’s format until the announcement was made days before CES.
Makes you wonder who did all the negations with the Warner. Good read this.

Warner has been saying from the beginning that there were no negotiations or payoffs and that their decision was based on the market and wanting to select the format that the customer had the clear preference for. It's not entirely out of the realm of possibility that Warner made the decision without outside influence.

It may be totally true but for antitrust purposes he really couldn't say anything else.

Thinking about it.......... maybe it also means that Warner did not decide which way to go until the eleventh hour, which certainly has been the speculation.

Heh, Louis Masses, director of business development for Toshiba’s Digital A/V group, says he’s not sure where the 51 GB HD DVD disc is, one year after its “feasibility” was announced at CES. If he doesn't know, who does?

Exclamation I'm sure he knew!

He just can't say.

It was obvious that certain Fox, Lionsgate, and Warner executives all knew about it well in advance.

I imagine many other BDA members knew it -- they just didn't let it slip like the above mentioned folks did.

I'm sure he is required to stay tight-lipped on that whole process. I'm sure he knew about it.

It could also be that he isn't saying so people don't accuse the BDA of backroom dealings. I am 99.99% sure he knew if not he is just a puppet figure on the BDA board.

HD-DuDers won't believe this, they believe there's a conspiracy theory that involves the CIA, Mossad, KGB, MI-6, Area-51, and the aliens plus 600 million payoff to bring Warner to the blu-side

I thought that (based upon insider comments) that individual BDA companies engage in these types of negotiations with studios, but that the BDA as a whole does not.

Hey???? Area-51..... TL-51.... I think we have a connection. I think I just figured out where they're keeping those discs.

Here is what happened. When testing the TL51 discs, their raw power put a crack in the space/time continuum. This caused a rift in galactic dark matter causing a black hole to appear and suck all of the existing TL51 discs in to its gravitational pull. They were able to save just one. And, it's being held in a secret facility behind 6 feet of concrete somewhere in area-51.

There you have it folks… The answer to the mystery.
