This HI Def format war is far from being over. 85 to 15% sales ratio? HD DVD has lowered their SAL player prices and now they are selling like crazy. Then he woke up... The more HD DVD SAL players get sold, the better it is for the consumer. They are at a price for accelerated mass adoption. Accelerated Mass Extinction. They are also the best SD DVD up-scalers. Warner Bros. Was paid $500+ Million by the Blu-Ray Disc Association to exclusively support Blu-Ray. This contract has a clause in it, so it’s not a permanent decision. If the BDA fail to deliver, Warner will seek out HD DVD and support them exclusively. And I suspect Blu-Ray will never embrace people due to its problems & incompatibilities. Price is the most important factor in anybody buying into this format war. This is where HD DVD can make a difference & an extremely strong come back. We all know that Blu-Ray has been piggybacking off the Playstation 3. Do we really want that young demographic deciding which format to buy & support? I would rather put my money on people that actually went and bought an HD DVD Stand Alone player. They knew what they wanted, but the PS3 crowd did not, Sony made the choice for them. At the end of the day the most important factor in this war is not how many discs each format has sold but how many Stand Alone Hi Def players are in the market place. This is the only way to succeed SD DVD and right now HD DVD is the only known Hi Def format to do this rather sooner than later. If Blu-Ray ever was to win this Hi Def format war, HDM as we know it is finished. Blu-Ray = Profile Plagued & Too Expensive. HD DVD = Finished specs from the start & priced for mass adoption. Which would you choose?
