Default WWE yet to pick a side on HD format

from wwe.com

According to Mike Grossman, WWE has yet to decide whether to distribute its high-definition pay-per-view events on HD-DVD or Blu-Ray format discs.

Surely they must go with Blu-Ray... thoughts?

Even if they went HD DVD exclusive it wouldn't mean anything. WWE? Come on... How about Paramount releasing on Blu-Ray again, that would be great.

What they're going to do is announce they're going HD DVD. Then they'll have a contract signing in the ring with HHH, John Cena, Batista, and Randy Orton all wearing HD DVD shirts. Then Vince McMahon, when it comes time to sign the contract, will tear it in half and give the HD DVD rep a chair shot. Then all the wrestlers in the ring will take off their HD DVD shirts revealing Blu-Ray shirts.

God, I watch entirely too much wrestling!

good point... guess those 4 million that watch weekly don't mean much. I'll just shift my focus elsewhere.

WWE is broad casted on NBC, USA which is owned by Universal, so it could be HD-DVD, but maybe since WWE owns themselves, i guess they can pick whatever they want. I havent watched wrestling in a long time, i miss the old days, well not that old but before these losers calling themselves wrestlers or superstars

not that i am a wrestling fan or anything...but the falls they take and the bumps are not fake..

the outcome and storyline is made-up...

it is like a form of reality TV..since all that stuff is fake too...

even shows like Maury Povich (sp?) are all scripted...but people believe the stuff...

I find it humorous how quick people are to point out wrestling is 'fake', no matter what the subject is (in this case; the decision to go HD-DVD or Blu-Ray). Welcome to 1983 people. It's scripted. Saying it's fake is almost on par with me saying that Monk is fake... that he really doesn't have a severe case of OCD... or that Johnny Depp isn't really a pirate. It's common knowledge. This isn't about who likes what...

Didn't realize it was such a hush-hush topic that 'no one cares about'.

Yeah, but answer a question about when an opera or some obscure European movie is coming to Blu-Ray with a "who cares", and you better have a flame suit on.

And I'd be one of the ones flaming you. Just because wrestlings not your "thing" doesn't mean it can't sell on Blu-ray. I want EVERYTHING on Blu-Ray.

I agree, I'd like everything to be on blu-ray as well. And I figured everyone here was that way but apparently some people REALLY don't care if something as big (or as small-- as they'd like to see it) as WWE is on it or not. Guess no more WWE-related posts from me on here

Wow... I can't believe you can't see this:

- There is NOTHING more J6P than WWE.
- WWE is the KING of cross promoting + their marketing department is HUGE
- WWE goes Blu-Ray = J6P gets inondated with Blu-Ray and PS3 commercials 12 times a week (they have 3 weekly shows and usually bombard viewers with the same commercial 4 times during 1 show)

If you want DVD to go away in favor of Blu-Ray, than WWE going 100% HDTV this month and then adopting
Blu-Ray as it's format of choice are VERY important steps to get J6P on board.

Anything that appeals to J6P that's available on Blu-Ray is VERY important.
A heck of lot more important than some obscure European Blu-Ray release (even though I prefer Run Lola Run myself... but that's besides the point).

P.S. Only HD DUD fans believe Wrestling is real... it takes that kind of brain

Most likely Blu-Ray because their movies "The Marine" and "The Condemned" are on Blu-ray.

I thought someone had posted something stating that WWE had already chosen the blu-ray format. Besides, anyone that chooses HD Dud is crazy right now

WWE shows are already bombarded with PS3 commercials, but as well as other video game commercials.
