I received notification via email from Sony that 3.60 is ready to be downloaded. Well, I gotta tell ya what a mess it's made my player. With 3.20 I used to have Resume - no it just says "Resume Off" and on the Disney Movies I'm able to skip to the main menu, but if you go to quickly now it reverts back to say "not able to perform this function" or what ever the exact verbage is. Plus, now it's going to black screen as well and the menus are crossing over each other at times. It almost seems like some of the issue the people were having with the earlier firmware upgrades that I never experienced. I'm about fed up with that way this machine is reacting to remote control commands. Anyone else having similar issues with the S1? Thanks for listening...

I got rid of it. It was the only thing I couldn't stand about the S1, the slowness. Resume didn't affect me that much.
Get a Panny. They're very fast and can resume almost any disc. Sony really needs to speed their players up. The PS3 is the fastest thing out there, but the other models tend to be very slow. Supposedly Sharp has their "quick-start" feature too. I think this is something that will improve across the board as the BD player market matures. |

It was actually working okay until this last upgrade now the Java menus are all wacked out at times and I'm just over it - the loading time I've become used to and I didn't really have any problems with the sub menus until now - I'm not even sure what 3.60 is bringing to the table that's new except it's suppose to add more Java functionality, it's actually seems to be the revers. Not pleased.

I'm using firmware 3.60 on my BDP-S1 and everything seems fine to me.

once you get to the main menu when selecting Total Menus (as on Ratatouille, Cars and Pirates 3) it intermittently will overlap the menu screens or in some cases lock up completely with a black screen and then will not respond to any command - you must turn it off, but when that happens you encounter the "not able to skip" chapter headache...I haven't tried again after shutting it down for a while, may it will reboot properly...the lag times are typical and not an issue they've always been there. |

You sure you saw the "d/l ok" message and finished the upgrade? I had similar slow issues and such with former updates to the s300. Turning it off and back one once or twice seems to clear it up. Otherwise, your machine is bummed and you should call tech support.
