I wanted to buy Nacho Libre the movie for my Kids again the Blu Ray Disc was 32.99$ vs the Hd Dvd version at 23.99$ and the cheapest Blu Ray Disc
I saw was priced at 26.99$
Seeing that Sony has won the Format war How long should I wait for Sony to bring down their prices ? Do you think by spring time we'll have Blu Ray players at 200$ .
Or do you think Sony is just going to Milk the prophits seeing there's no competition ?

Thanks
Again
I don't want to sound like a jerk but it seems to me that you are just spreading some hd fud. Sure prices will come down in the future and the cost of movies will too but for now if you want to enjoy great pq and sq you'll have to fork over some dough. There are many early adopters here that gladly spent over a thousand dollars for a blu ray player when introduced and many who payed full msrp for the first 60gig ps3. My point is it going to cost you money don't expect to pay less than 200 dollars for at least a year.

Not caring who wins or loses but " How do you win if Blu Ray wins? "
What do you win ? How can I claim my Prize ?

" $249 to $299 for the Sony BDPS300 and here here in Canada" Can you provide a link to those prices .

Bottom line you get what you pay for if you want cheap go buy a fud player and enjoy the poor picture and sound and the support of TWO studios or go blu and enjoy the best sound and picture its up to you

I've never really understood the price argument put out by the red camp (not that the OP is doing that). In order to get into HD, you need to spend a significant amount on a TV, likely a decent surround system, so how does paying an extra couple of hundred for a high quality Blu player, the heart of the content of a system, be a factor?

I paid $1500 for my TV. I paid $500 for my receiver and $1200 for my 5.1 speakers (will buy an additional 2 for 7.1 at some point). So that's well over $3000 BEFORE taxes, and somehow, the extra $200 for a hi-def disc player that won't be obsolete by end of year should be the deciding factor?

I think if anyone's budget is that tight, perhaps there are better things to be spending money on than a home theatre system.

Best prices = SD-DVD + Upconverting DVD player. $50 players and $15-20 movies with 100% of all titles being released.

If you want to pay extra for better quality, you can go $150 for an HD-DVD player that will only play 20% of the movies released starting May (probably even less looking at how few titles have been announced) or spend $300-400 for a Blu-ray player that will play 70% or more of the movies released now and in the forseeable future.

You have already posted about having a problem with playback on your "HP Workstation" Blu-Ray drive and it says you've been a member since 2005.You would think someone who works in programming like your archived posts suggest you could come to some sort of educated answer.

Rather then trying to start something?

Sony will not be dropping their price as you need to realize everything else that will keep the cost up ... diesel cost is skyrocketing ... lets to the price of oil .. do I need to go on... metal is all totally out of control . when you can recycle 12 cans for almost a dollar something is up.. with all that threat you need to go on line find what you desire right now and find the way to pay for it. get a paper route..... who know what but as for your thought of coming down tell me has the wii come down and it has been out for two christmas shopping seasons!!! think about all this and then go make wise decisions SONY 46xbr4 and a quality sony sdp500 blu player and a surround sound that will cost you what both of those two items cost you so the home experience is AWESOME !!
good luck

if i were you i would not buy a standalone player until they have profile 2.0 hardware. if you are wanting to only spend $200. for that player you might be in for quite a wait. you could buy a ps3 and be able to upgrade to profile 2.0 but then again if you are not into gaming that probably would not be a good choice. i believe the standalone players would have a better chance of a lower price because it takes less basic hardware. i believe any way you slice it you're going to have to wait awhile on a $200. budget.

ALL Blu-ray movie at Frys Electronic was only 19 bucks last week.

I'm surprise no one mention it.
Not sure if the price are still like that now, or only at my Frys, but damn, that's like about the same price as DVDs.

Blu-ray is already becoming standard.
