Which version you watched? Australian or UK blu?

Because I have the Aussie blu and it is not uncut. I ran it alongside the US DVD (Blu on TV, DVD on laptop) and it was identical to the old R-rated print.

Is this uncut or not? As it's in the new HMV offer I'm hoping to pick it up alongside The Frightners tomorrow if it's instore on the offer and not at the 22.99 price I was quoted last week.

No, it's still the edited R-rated cut.

Watched mine last night, transfer ain't bad but nothing special, menu screen is basic as hell too.

Not worth more than the £9 i paid for it last week.

The thought of Twilight Time possibly acquiring this film gave me chills, so I decided to import the UK version. I don't mind if it's not the Unrated cut, I'll be saving almost $25 and I'll have it in time for this Halloween.

I am so glad that I decided to import this blu-ray! I was nervous because of Universal's poor reputation, but this one looks great. The grain structure appears to be left intact and the video has a high bit rate.

^ It looks pretty good imo. Seems like Universal decided not to "fix" it as it was only a mid-price release. I like my Candyman disc, it's an appreciated upgrade.

Could someone comment on PQ for this? Our local ASDA has it for a fiver, but don't really want to buy it if its not much of an upgrade.

TA!

If you like grain and you want a film-like picture, then buy it. This disc is true to the source, it doesn't look like the typical overly processed nightmare that Universal typically pumps out.

I don't have the DVD for comparison, but I'm guessing that this is a significant upgrade in terms of picture quality.

DVD vs Blu-ray comparison: http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergl...less=1#auswahl

I think the BD looks even better when you see it in motion.

A film should have more visible detail with a recent transfer than is evident in those caps. It practically looks like an upscale from the DVD master. I suspect the Universal master was struck years ago on older telecine equipment, probably for the DVD release and has never been upgraded since then. I bet if Sony ever licenses the movie out that it looks much better than the Universal BD.

Default Sony's deathgrip?

I live in the U.S. and I have a Sony 2013 3D Blu Ray player. I wonder if this disc would play OK in a Sony BD player? Anyone ever had any issues with this? This is Sony's movie, I'm not sure why they're holding back on putting this on Blu, but it seems like mishaps such as this would make them want to use my wifi signal to their advantage (and my disadvantage as it may be...)
