Well, they introduce Gwen Stacy in Spidey 3, so I think that would be a nice way to get rid of Mary Jane. Either kill her or send her off to Hollywood to be an actress, and let Gwen have the spotlight for a few movies.

There's how many thousands of Spidey comics out there?

As long as the stories are good, you could have 100 Spiderman films end up happening and that's all good.

Yeah, I remember and old interview before 2 came out in which Avi Arad said he would make at LEAST 9 movies if he could. As long as the studio kept approving them, and audiences still wanted to see them, he would do it.

I think eventually whatshisface wont want to play Peter anymore. I think there is a tiny TINY chance we'll get a fourth movie out of him. I'm 'expecting' 3 to be his last. I'm hopeful he'll change his mind though.

And I dont mind them changing him. As long as they get an actor with a similar build.

As for venom in the third movie I think it is a strong possibility you will see him some time at the end. I remember seeing toy statues put out for the movie and venom was one of the statues, so it would make sense that they will leave this one open ended for the next movie. Only time can tell.

It is very unlikely that Gwen Stacy survives this film, anyone who has read the comics knows why. If they let her live I will not be impressed.

A quick recap for those who don't remember.

If they pull an Xmen III on us and suddenly major, canonical characters are dropping dead in uber quick and meaningless deaths all over the place? All bets are off.

I think they'll do better here. I'm not worried about Spiderman 3 at all.

Don't even get me started on the whole Xmen movies, Fox butchered the series, and didn't put Gambit (the most popular Xman of all time) in any of the films, stupid decision IMO.

It looks awesome from what I've seen of it. Very rich charcater-wise and action-packed.

If they can go on making great movies, why not do so?

I was a bit shocked at that in X-men 3 as well but I dont think you will see that here because you got the same director on all 3 movies

They'll have to have someone come in and make an amazing part 4 to get the series back on track. It can be done, but it'll take some real effort and grade A talent up and down behind the camera.

They need a bunch of new screenwriters, a new director, and a new producer. Get Sam Raimi (Spiderman director) in to direct it, but he is tied in to Colombia for a while yet, the problem with X3 was that the story was so, so bad, they tackled the wrong story arc. The Phoenix saga was always going to be too complicated for one film's worth, they could easily have spread the whole story over two films. They also got basic character abilities wrong, Rogue was a good example, she absorbed superstrength and flight from Ms Marvell, but that was never shown, Jean Gray has proper control over her telekinesis, but only for short periods of time, rather than poor control for very little to no time at all. They need to sort a lot of stuff out, bring Scott (Cyclops) back somehow, he doesn't die, he is the field commander for the X-Men, they already brought Prof X back, even though the method was stupid as Charles has a brother, but it is not his twin, it is the Juggernaught. Rogue does NOT take the 'Cure'!!!!!!!!!!!

Lastly, put Gambit it!

So atm I don't hold out much hope for the X-Men franchise, Spiderman has served me and many comic fans well, and I hope that it continues to do so in any possible fourth film.

^^ Maybe get Ridley Scott to save the thing.

i did read something about an x-men 4. i'll be honest to say that i'd be excited to see it. of course, the wolverine and magneto spinoffs could rightly be called xmen4 and 5.

about tobey maguire, i am of the mindset that if you pa a guy enough, he will always do the role. if you look at his imdb profile http://imdb.com/name/nm0001497/ he has done some good/great films. however, he really isn't really known except to the movie community, and even then those that pay attention. i think for him it is a fun role. why the heck not do it? you put out consistent winners, have fun, and make a good deal of bank. i don't see him as being a typical a+ star. i see him being more of a spacey long term in terms of roles. the problem is that he isn't old enough. eventually, he may get there (comparing him to spacey maybe isn't fair given how good he is, but do have to compare him to somebody).

except they already pulled the 'off the bridge' trick with MJ in part one, AND she survived. If they do the same thing with the bridge, i will be HIGHLY disappointed. Theyve changed a few things alread (organic webbing?), so why not a few more?

DO a switcheroo and kill MaryJane first, while Gwen is waiting in the wings, and I wouldnt mind that at all.

Yeah they have done the bridge sequence already, but they also have another goblin of sorts on the loose again, so a repeat of a similar scene, but PP not being able to save GS would be very, very good, showing the bond that MJ has with PP. They would never kill off MJ, she is way to popular, they tried in the comics so many times, with her disappearing into other dimensions, being kidnapped and cloned, but she always came back. Eventually the writers bowed to pressure and relented, allowing PP and MJ to get married. IMO they should not have introduced MJ in the first film, and kept with GS.

im not a comic guy like a lot of you, so i don't have the knowledge that you guys do. however, from a laymans perspective, there is no way they could have not had MJ. there are tons of people that don't know who else is there, i did figure out who GS is, but that doesn't mean everyone else will. heck, i didn't figure it out till this week actually when i was doing some reading. they had to have MJ because that is who people know. without here, everyone would have been like WTF is this girl, even i would have.
