DVD will become the "VHS tape" in a several years, movies will still come out on them, they will be dirt cheap, theres always some cheapo that still buys DVDs and doesnt get with the times.

I said Disney because they are so tired of getting ripped off by bootlegs.

Fox because they love their copy protection so much. The sooner they`re out of crappy DVD`s the better for them I say.

Default nobody is going to any time soon

i doubt that any studio would drop dvd for quite awhile. the percentage sold in dvd is by far the largest. the studios are in it for the money and right now dvd is where their bread is being buttered.

I picked Paramount. The reason being... They're dumb enough to try to push their downloads along with Microsoft. And in order to do so, they'll probably stop production on DVD's... But that's if downloads take off which I know they wont.

I said Fox for the same reason and they favor anything that hurts the bootleggers...

and of course...all studio's do..but Fox seems to be really trying to prevent the bootleggers from getting their high def movies onto the streets...

but why would any studio cut off DVD?...I think it would be done slowly by every studio when the next format is made clear without argument...

That is so far down the road that it is really difficult to say. But considering the paranoia of Fox and people ripping their titles, and gave them the vote.

Since Blu Ray is backwards compatible, I doubt they drop DVD at all. They'll release DVDs for titles where Blu Ray wouldn't benefit or smaller titles they don't want to spend the energy on.
I forsee DVDs being used for a long time to come by independents in particular.

as much as I loved disney to go TOTALLY blu exclusive, I got to say Sony. They have released more BD compared to others. The next might be Disney, then Fox, Warner.

I really hope this will be soon, after BD becomes dominant, and just like VHS, it become obsolete quickly

other, I don't think the first will most likely be indies, I also think that most of the big studios will do it at the same time, more or less like they did with VHS

hard decision... DVD is still a very large cash cow. But given their tendency to go out on very brittle limbs, I'd say Sony.

If I were to own any studio, I wouldn't drop dvd at all because the majority of the worlds population still watches regular dvd and dropping it would be a critical mistake.
