Default Poll: do you still pay attention to what studio puts a movie out?

i remember before bd and hd dvd that i never really cares what studio put out what. i would never really remember unless it was a disney movie, until the studio's symbol showed up before the movie. then came the format war. all of a sudden it mattered to me what studio was putting out what movie, not only because of the studio exclusivity, but also who had the best pq and aq history. now that the format war is over i find myself still asking "who's distributing this?" its like i'm still shell shocked by the format war and can't break out. i just did it earlier with that new will smith movie hancock or whatever its called. but before i went and looked it up i stopped and quietly reminded myself that they are ALL now blu rar supporting studios and soon to be all exclusive. what a wonderful world.

as someone who lives in the UK and orders a lot of US titles the studio is rather important as Fox titles are always locked whilst warner never lock their releases.

I found myself hoping thta Universal and PAramount releases would bomb at the box office. Yeah, it is silly Now I still have a hard time deprogramming myself. Hopefully that will change once we get some Uni/Paramount releases.

I used to pay attention to it, just as a "useless trivia" thing, but it really doesn't matter to me.

Not as much now that the format war is over. But I definitely did last year, seeing which studio was distributing it was a fairly reasonable way to guess what the quality would be like before it came out. Disney/Sony, great, a lossless track for sure and excellent picture quality. Warner, oh no, a HD DVD port with 5.1DD most of the time. Fox, MIA/delayed/DTS HD MA.

I still pay attention mostly. Never did care with DVD though. But now, I always know what studio my movies are coming from. Even on the commercials I check to see what studio is releasing it.

Same here. It's like with that darn edge enhancement. Once you know what to look for you will always notice it, even if you don't want to. You can't reverse awareness.

Not as much....but still a bit because I know Lionsgate, Sony, Disney and Fox titles will all have top quality encodes. And that if its a fox movie, I KNOW it'll be extra expensive.

+1 .... import as much as I can so I can see the film before it's official release over here on disk and in some cases such as Disturbia..before it was out in the cinema's here too. IF everything was region free then I would'nt bat an eyelid at which studio made what..until that day or I get a multi-region player then I'll be paying close attention.

Voted, YES.

Actually, I pay a lot attention to the studios now.

And if the studio is called FOX... forget to import at this time...

I never really cared, but I will admit that Warner tends to piss me off because they get into the habit of not including lossless audio.

I only care about the title, so long as it is one I want then I get it. That being said, I am more aware of the studios now becase a lot of title are not out due to who distributes them. But all in all i still do not care once I get my movie
