Does anyone think they'll have a good price markdown closer to or after Christmas?

It's dropped $30 since it's release. I seriously doubt it's dropping below $40-50 in the next month.

Fry's had this on Wednesday (1 day sale only) for $39.99, which, in my mind, a great price indeed, but I still think it needs to touch $30 before "I" consider biting the bullet....

I will add, the Box/cover/disc cases(black) are all very nice. They did an outstanding job on the packaging for this trilogy (Extended Edition)..

Same for me. I just finished watching both discs and I didn't notice any green tint.

Lol, $30 really?!? You might be waiting a long time because $50 is probably going to be the sale/special price for the next few months. Not sure $30 is going to cut it for 6 Blu-rays and digital copies. Maybe it might hit $40 once the digital copies expire next Summer.

Nope and nope. As a matter of fact after this week it will go back up to the $70-$80 mark and maybe come down again to $50 around Christmas. Not sure you can get a better deal when you factor in the digital copies(yes, downloadable), 6 Blu-rays and a nice set case. I just don't see the demand dipping any time soon where they will have to seriously discount the set.

I just bought this during Black Friday but I have no need or interest in digital copies. The first 3 people to PM will get a digital copy codes. If you're first you get FotR. 2nd, TT, and 3rd obviously RotK.

EDIT: Already given out

Perhaps this has been talked about before, and if so I apologize, but did anyone see about a minute of totally new footage in Fellowship that wasn't in the previous EE??

Maybe I'm wrong, but when my daughter watched it with me there were two very short scenes that we didn't remember from the previous EE on DVD---

1) Sam singing a fireworks song to honor Gandalf after he dies. About 45 seconds.

2) Galadriel giving the name of her ring of power and showing it to Frodo in a scene that lasts maybe 15 seconds.

Were those two things in the original EE of this movie?? I watched it several times (but admittedly the last time was a few years ago) and no one in my family recalled those two short scenes.

Are there other extra scenes too, or am I just imagining things?

No, there were no new additions. Those scenes were always in the extended edition.

I finally broke down and ordered this up with the black friday pricing. I can't wait to see this (extended) trilogy in HD!

I think you'll probably love em. The first one is a just a little green, but seriously nothing to get hung up about.

The PQ is a significantly better, I think.

Overall, what with the better PQ and the extra scenes, which I like, I just gave up my regular edition. For me it's just not needed.... I prefer the EEs. Yeah, they're long, but watching at home you can take breaks and spread it over a few days if you want. You can treat each film almost like a miniseries!

Well, I just finished watching "Fellowship" a few minutes ago, and the green tint is there, but not nearly as bad as some have made it out to be. I most noticed it during some of the night scenes, and the wide establishing shot of the snowy mountains. But overall, I'd say it only popped up maybe 5% of the time, so its not a huge distraction at all. Skin tones were natural and even, and I noticed a minor shifting in Elijah's eye color, but I'm very happy with how this looks on Blu...and that's coming from someone who doesn't even have an HDTV yet.

Just a theory, but perhaps the Witch King was able to break his staff because Gandalf was being kept in check.
Except that it didn't happen in the book. And it doesn't square with the other examples where Gandalf wasn't keeping his power in check. I think I have also heard somewhere that it was put in for dramatic effect.

I made the same comments when I completed the first movie on Friday I was looking for those scenes we were given as screen shots back in May that made everyone in the movie look like the Hulk, I could not find them, wonder what happen

The one place I notice a bit of green tin was the shot showing Caradhras just before the close back up on the actors. The snow did have a small amount of green in it but nowhere close like some of those screen shots back 7 months ago, some people where having serious fun with these I am sure

Ugh, those screens were 100% accurate then and are just as accurate today. Those are how those frames appear on the disc, how your eyes perceive the image and how your set displays them are the subjective elements, not how green the imagery actually is. The screen caps ARE how they are. Some people don't notice it at all, others are extremely bothered by it. This has been beat to death 100 times over.

I also saw nothing green in this movie...
except trees, grass and cloaks... for all those that would comment on no green at all...

Just finished disc 1 of FotR. PQ was excellent along with AQ. Very happy with my purchase. Also sold the digital copies on ebay for $10. Bringing my total for the set down to $25.
