Obviously, you haven't studied journalism or marketing. The lead and title makes all the difference. That thread doesn't have much pop.

You know something, everytime I've seen you on here, you've done nothing but want to fight with people and it really gets old. If you want to continue fighting with posters, I'll be glad to bring a mod in here and you can argue with them...I'm not on your side nor am I against you, I just want it moved to the other because it was reported earlier on that thread and it keep things from being complicated.

Now, if you want to get into marketing or journalism, I'll be glad to go one-on-one in that perspective too. As it appears from your title, "Amazon supports Blu-ray", you are correct, because they have been actually supporting Blu-ray for some time. They have been selling them for a long time, so that's good enough for support. Your title has no bearing on anything, because you are stating something that is already common knowledge--they do support Blu-ray in some form or fashion.

However, since you seem to want me to get into the discussion, I'll comment on the discussion itself. The line they put on the Warner HD DVDs is just a heads-up for the consumers who are thinking about buying said HD DVDs. In other words, they are saying, "Get them while we still have them." This is another marketing strategy. Also, they don't want consumers to blame them for not giving them ALL the information needed to make an educated decision on Hi-def media.

So, you really think if they favored HD-DVD like some other places do still, that they would mention this? They are under no obligation to disclose it.

They would probably like to be rid of it by closing time though, right?

Also, your title means nothing, because they have been supporting Blu-ray for some time. It's like I've stated before, until they stop selling one format or the other that they are truly showing their support for anything but being neutral.

Please post the Amazon ad where they say the format dispute could go either way and Blu-ray only has 5 of 7 major studios?

Please point me to a statement made by the company that they are backing Blu-ray exclusively. Again, they are supporting Blu-ray, but for now they are supporting HD DVD as well--I do have proof they've said that in the last week or so. The WB statement is just warning consumers that these products will not be available for much longer, so you'll have to find something else. Edit: OR you'll have to buy them while they are still here.

And if your argument is that I'm an HD fanboy, afraid not, I've fought for Blu-ray on other sites and I bleed Blu.

I didn't say exclusively. The title makes you want to read more. That's the journalistic approach. I'd say they support Blu-ray more than HD-DVD.

I would think that those a little less...zealous would see that this is a good marketing way to try and get people to buy those titles.
After all there is a list of Warner titles that will no longer be available included there for a reason.
There is a saying somewhere about counting eggs before they are hatched though I have some reason a saying about falling on deaf ears probably applies too...

As I said in the other thread, if their goal was to warn customers for the good of those customers, they should have the warning on the HD-A3 page. I think there is a good chance they're mostly just trying to sell more discs and figure this will get people to order them before they are gone. Or maybe their is some rogue employee who figured he/she could get the message out on those Warner HD DVD pages.

No, you didn't say exclusively, but my statement made as much sence as your question to me. I didn't say anything about them stating that they were one side or the other as well or that they stated that it would go one way or another because of movie studios.

The thread that Dobyblue started also made me want to read it as well. In fact, his thread got more response than yours has about the topic, most of your thread is posters saying how deceiving the title is and you arguing that you have a better title. Just because your title is shorter, means nothing. I would have read the thread no matter what if something in it had interested me. Like in Doby's he said Amazon begins to advise Customers of WB's Blu-exclu move...I wanted to read just to see how they are stressing that move.

If you are worried about the title of the thread being shorter, go write for a paper or start your own blog and you can do whatever. This is a forum and not everyone are astute at the journalism gig, but they do seem to get their point across.

There's a reason that you don't see wordy titles in newspapers and instead see short, catchy ones.

Is there a point to any of this that has to do with Blu-ray? Because you've moved all around what has been said and still seem to be arguing about the title, which has no bearing on Blu-ray or what you've reported here.

Darinp, I completely agree with you, on the marketing strategy...they are hoping that when it sounds like there is a short supply, they will hopefully sell more.

LOL...agreed, or at least move it to the other thread. I'm actually hoping they will delete half of what has been posted, because it has no bearing to Blu-ray or anything else.
