Both the prior links I posted are both two different Sony copyrighted manuals. The 2006 manual comes from Sony’s official site. The new model SXRD manual is an official Sony manual from ABT online. For example look at page 61 of both manuals. The only difference is the model number. Maybe Sony made a mistake when publishing the manuals. I don’t think ABT an online dealer would change a copywrited manual (that would be to much work). What if Sony supplied them with a first draft manual that needs revised?
From the information we have right now it appears the only difference between the 2007 SXRD and 2006 SXRD is the fact the new Sony’s are black with a “Full 1080P” logo stuck on the front. Unless there is an error in the manual no other specifications were changed for this years models. There could be an unseen change with different firmware or circuitry used, but anything major would have shown up in the specs. Right now someone can save a few hundred dollars if they purchase the 2006 silver model over the 2007 black model. I guess there is not enough demand to have both the silver and black colors in production. Many customers like the color of black TV cabinets.
Hopefully Sony will update their website soon with these 3 new model numbers. Now we know why Best Buy and other stores have the 2006 models marked down. Make way for the 2007 models that are black in color.
