PS3 Struggles in 360 WAR Questions Answered!

I actually had my PS2 break down around May 2003 and I got mine at the end of 2001. The problem revolved around the infamous DRE (Disc Read Error) and I was pissed that my GTA Vice City and NHL 2002 disc was damaged but after I got the system fixed, I haven't had a problem since. Unfortantly, I had to throw out those two games that were damaged.

I've seen alot of Youtube videos about the 360 and it's not pretty. If it's not the red ring of death, it's a disc read error or the drive damaging the cds but not to sound like a broken record, it's not the main reason what scares me away from the 360. I just don't trust Microsoft in taking over the gaming market like they tried with the orginal xbox.

Also, what the OP failed to mention is the xbox isn't just a gaming console. This is the 21st century and microsofts intentions of not making it a multimedia machine is irrelevant. It's the same as sonys and last time I checked, didn't they try to turn it into a set top box to replace your DVR now? What's next? I don't think their Xbox elites with a 120GB hard drive just sits there to look pretty but it's the center peice for those that believe digital downloads is the future.

Why don't I go ahead and add what point did Microsoft even had to add the HD-DVD add-on other then to slow down Blu-Rays progress? What about that Wifi adapter that should've been included into the console to begin with? And the sad thing is, many people actually bought it over a Toshibia player.

Of course that doesn't matter just like I told Jet that no matter how many features a system has, It's irrelvant if it doesn't have the games witch Jet failed to actually read after making a reply to inform us that we have to realise that when it comes to a console, the games come first witch we are currently arguing about. It's pointless however since the games I like are on the exclusives on the PS3 are better then the Xbox and he thinks the Xbox has better exclusives then the PS3.

So who is winning in this debate?

um wasn't Alan wake announced as a multiple platform game? The only thing better in the 360 os Achievements IMO. that makes the final descision on what system I buy the game for.

I can't play GT5 on the 360, that made the decision for me.

Plus of course the PS3 doubles as a Blu-ray player, allowing me to sell my old standalone.

Alan Wake's Publisher is Microsoft Game Studios so it's not going to be a multiple platform game.

ps3 struggles in console war? you do know that the ps3 is kicking the crap out of 360 in every other country but the USA right?? the ps3 is barely getting into its 2nd year of life....and lets look at what will be coming out this year the the 360 has YET to match...

first off GT5....a true graphical powerhouse that will do what no other games has done before and will do what the 360 CAN NEVER do:
NATIVE 1080p running at 60 fps.....nuff said

next title Resistance 2 coming Q3 of this year:
8 player co-op with 60!!!!!!!player battles....yea...suck on that one 360

next title...God of war 3....um...360 is so caught up on shooters that it doesnt have a action/adventure first party developer...

rachet and clank...again...no first party developers making platformers...ps3 wins again

MGS4....exclusive 3rd party TRIPLE A title coming to ps3 this year

final fantasy...also 3rd party TRIPLE A title exclusive to ps3

Little big planet....is there even a 360 title that can express the creative mind of the gamer like this game will do?

playstation HOME....its gonna rival if not surpass XBL in user content...and its FREE!!!

it looks the same IF NOT better on the ps3....also gameplay and graphics is dependent on how much time the developer takes to make full use of a console....developers like EA and valve dont know how to fully use the untapped power of the ps3 yet...but developers like epic seems to do just fine on it.

I have had my 360 since the release day and i have never been so satisfied with games than what Microsoft has brought to gamers. Being a 360 fanboy I had to get a PS3 because first of all I know that blu-ray is better for a fact! Second Sony has some of my favorite exclusives like the Ratchet and Clank series and MGS and Final Fantasy's. I will admit that I WAS a heavy basher when the PS3 came out but ever since I got mine I will have to say that I am Impressed! Perfectly laid out and well thought out *EXCITED FOR PS HOME!*

To be honest the only reason that the PS3 is still alive is because of the integrated Blu-Ray player... i don't mean that in a bad way but I say kudos because that means they can keep going to do what they do best. A few things they need to do to pick up the slack and ketch up is to come out with PS HOME, release some more exclusives with other companies and push out from themselves, come up with a feature to play non-1080p games in 1080p like the 360, and finally release the Dualshock 2 controllers in America! I am truly cheering that the PS3 does make a comeback with some kick-ass games instead of relying on the Blu-Ray to keep them in the game.

I already own 4 PS3 games and 20+ Blu-rays... this outcome is like this for almost everyone that owns a PS3. So does that make the PS3 a blu-ray player or game console? I can say that my 360 will never be lonely due to the vast amount of exclusives/muli-port games and arcade games. I presently own over +100 tiles for the 360, 52 of them being 360 exclusives, and another +50 arcade games. Now I will admit not everyone of those games deserve to be in A collection but are meant to be in a library or games. But the fact is that the 360 will always have more games played than movies watched in it.

I just hope that Sony decides to take a step away from the fact that it is a Blu-Ray player and focus more on the gaming aspect because that what the PS3 was made for. They know they have already won the format war, that's been decided for a while since WB became BD exclusive, CONGRATS BY THE WAY!!! BUT I WANT MORE GAMES FOR MY PS3!!! Look at how many games came out for the PS2 in the first year and a half... And look how successful it was! I have +250 PS2 games and I would not get rid of one! I consider each one to be a GREAT TITLE! So I ask for Sony to please come out with more games and soon! We need online multi-player that is exclusively PS3!

*FACT* ~Sony decided not to invest any money into other companies for exclusives... LOOSING Exclusivity to DMC4, GTA IV, and to possibly fallow in there tracks MGS and Final Fantasy.

These are a couple of statements I want everyone to think about before they go bashing the 360 again...

First of all buying a 360 or PS3 is based on games to spend an extra $50 more on a Blu-Ray played is cool but not everyone cares about the Blu-Ray. ~By the way the proves the inferiority of the PS3, as a game console, to buy it soulfully on the fact that it is a BD player~

Second as a reminder that everyone is entitled to an opinion and the my opinion is being said to help people hopefully understand that the 360 is a better GAME CONSOLE than the PS3 UNLESS Sony decides to fix their errors.

Part of that comes from the rules of porting.

The 360 was out first, development procedure started on that console first.

Developing on a 3 core environment instead of an 8 core environment is also a bit different, hence why I suspect most of the ports do worse on the PS3.

But, conversely, developing on the PS3 first then going 'down' to 3 cores, you can bundle the thread packages together to balance [it's still work, but not adding new thread layers].

It's an interesting proposition. However, the big point remains, the 360 came first, so alot of game development was done for the 360 initially.

For game development, the 360 benefits heavily from the PC studios [Look at the origins of the various studios, realize that until MGS invested so heavily in Bungie, that Halo was a PC only (RTS) title].

And Fable 2... Maybe, just maybe people will catch on that Molyneux always promises more than he can deliver [unless it's Populous]. But that's just my grumble with him .

The PS3 a thinking man's console? Sorry, not really no. It's a game console, and any pretention from elitism you use to justify it not selling as well in one market is just offensive . There's a different game focus with the 360 than the PS3, which is a big reason for the dictotomy in the market saturations.

I say the Resistance is the Halo of PS3. But it's true So far Xbox 360 does not have 8 player co-op with 60 multiplayer matches.

God of War 3 is far off, PS3 is seeing it's fair share of Shooters too (Resistance, Call of Duty 4, Time Crisis 4, Haze, Killzone 2, SOCOM: Confrontation)
PS3 has 19 first part developers, 360 only has 9. Upcoming game Too Human is an action/adventure game only on 360 (I'm not sure if it's being develop by a first party developer though)

For $50 more than a Pro 360, the 40GB PS3 includes Wifi, 2x the hard disc space, a blu ray player, lossles audio and has Free access to the PSN.

The argument that the PS3 is a better gaming console because it has more old games is weak at best. The "PS3 doesnt have any games" is less true every day. GOing forward, the games are equal... or better on the PS3.
