Default HD-DUD exclusives of recent movies you'd like on BD?

To be thoroughly honest, it's slim pickings as Universal's slate has been disappointing as has The Weinstein's.

The best of the batch, for recent movies, I can find is either "Children of Men" and "Miami Vice". "Children of Men", after the hype, I found disappointing so it won't be missed by me initially.

As for "Miami Vice" (putting flame gear on), I found that supremely underrated. However, the SD dvd looks good enough and will do until Universal comes to it senses and goes Blu.

But if I had a gun to my head, and believe me that would pretty much have to be the scenario, and had to pick one recent movie HD-DUD exclusive it would have to be "Miami Vice".

Let's face it -- between Sony, Fox and Disney they've pretty much got the market cornered on must have/most wanted titles exclusive to a single format.

I think King Kong is the only one I'd really like, although Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddic are two guilty favorites.

I watched the HD-DVD of miami vice, and the PQ is all over the map. Half the time it looks good, half the time it looks VHS. The movie itself tho, is AWESOME and once it hits the streets in a blue case, it will be a definite purchase. I will never spend a dime on anything universal until it is on blu-ray, along with The Mummy series, Serenity and more.

Serenity, Hulk, Van Helsing, and only one or two others that escape my thinking at the moment

I really like Children of Men and I can see it being a very nice demo piece especially the scene near the end where they are in the apartment building. The fighting followed by tranquility would make a nice demo.

Dude, totally agree. On MV PQ: I think that's part of the "look" that Mann used on Miami Vice, was to enhance the grain in the underlit night sequences (low lighting + digital tape stock = grainy!) which I think is a cool look and lends an immeadiacy to the events some how. The SD presentation was similar to the theatrical presentation in most respects.

But the full potential on a home format can only be known when they do a proper BD release!

Recent movies.. only king kong and clerks 2.
I got children of men on dvd, as I do most universal titles I want to see.. and it wasnt a film i'd rush to buy in HD.

Miami Vice was really dissapointing also.

The ONLY Univeral title that makes me regret not having HD-DUD is:

1. Children of Men

Otherwise, I'm pretty "meh" in regards to anything on the otherside. (Although I can't understand the love "Serenity" recieves. I thought the last half-hour was okay, but the rest was boring.)
