IMO the best HTiB is an Onkyo. The HT-SP908 which you mentioned is your best bet. By the time you add a 'decent' set of speakers to the 605 price, you'll be at or above this price anyway...

The 6.1 SKS-HT240 has gotten good reviews for speakers only, and the SKS-HT540 are a decent 7.1 set it seems.

Edit: While i've been looking at speakers to mate up the Klipsch Quintet III has been oft recommended. Your price range for everything will largely determine the types of responses you'll get to this.

If you're stepping up from the hit that stereo audio takes on PL2, wow are you in for a shock

I think my exact response when I first heard it was 'I couldn't stop smiling or laughing at the difference'. I posted it somewhere in another thread.

If you decide to buy your speakers separate, it's an escalating issue. The more you research and listen to things, the more $$ you are going to convince yourself to spend. I started out wanting to spend $500-600 on a 7.1 speaker setup. Now I'm looking at $2k for just fronts and a center channel... The things we talk ourselves into...

+1 on the Klipsch Quintet III. I also have the Sub-10 and I love it!

awesome, yea i can't wait to get this setup, i got my sony htib last summer but that was when i only had about 10 blu-rays, since then i have become a huge blu-ray freak and i am itching to upgrade, i figured my mom will be happy with my old htib for her blurays player (she can't upgrade before me, that just wouldn't be right haha). how much does decent speaker wire run? and what kind should i get?
