Because I bought them at Worst Buy.

So did I! At least the first 2. Both were on a first week sale. They were on those tables they used to put new releases on for like 5 bucks less then they would normally be. Did you wait till they had already been out a while?

That's why! I didn't buy it on release week. I waited about a month or two after they came out.

I paid $20 each for the DVD copies of Batman, BR, BF, and $10 for B&R. That's $70 total. If I trade them in for $10, then I incur a $60 loss. Then, I'll add that to the $25 on this Blu-ray set to get my total cost.

$60 + $25 = $85 total for the Batman Anthology BD.

Not a great deal when you think about it.
Lol, you can buy all four Batman films on DVD on Amazon for $9.99. If you trade that in, you'll incur a... fifteen cent loss?

or you could just not buy the DVDs period.

In retrospect, I think it's one of those "so bad it's good" movies. I actually have more fun watching it than the mediocre "Batman Forever." You just have to go into it knowing it's a campy take on Batman styled after the 60's stuff. In fact, I actually wish they had thrown in a few POW! and WHAM! moments during the fight scenes.

So I guess I don't quite agree with you, because I do think it is THAT bad, but that's why I like watching it

I've had my Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight up for sale on Ebay for $9 total. At that price, I'm practically giving my DVDs away, but still no bids and it ends in 3 hours. What is wrong with the world today? Not a single soul on this earth wants these movies for free?????

Buying these individually...even if Forever and B&R were below expectations, I don't mind having them in the collection. B&R is one of those Bat films to watch on a boring day.

I just finished watching my set and I have to say, this was a rather disappointing upgrade.

First, let me say that "Batman Returns" looks absolutely stunning. Sadly though, this is the ONLY movie of the 4 that has a good transfer and is worth an upgrade. "Batman Forever" comes in second place. It didn't wow me the same way as Returns did, but it was a decent step up from the DVD. "Batman" didn't look so great but considering that it was the oldest film of the 4, I wasn't a bit surprised. However, "Batman & Robin" was the worst looking one out of the 4. It looks as if someone just upconverted the DVD and transferred it to Blu-ray. The picture quality was so muddy looking with no details whatsoever. This has to be a problem with the way WB transferred it. No way in hell can the most recent film have the worst picture quality. That was a major disappointment.

For those that are still deciding on whether they should upgrade or not, take my advice.... just upgrade "Batman Returns" and stick with your DVD copies of the other 3 films.

I never did buy the Batman Anthology Blu-Ray Set because I was really happy with the quality of the Two-Disc Special Edition DVDs.

I think Warner may re-release The Batman Movies on Blu-Ray to coincide with the release of The Dark Knight Rises. I can't see them creating new HD Transfers for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. But I can see Warner creating new HD Transfers for the first four films.

Batman being the "oldest" has nothing to do with it. It's THREE years older than Returns, you really think that's a factor? It may not be the best transfer, but its miles above the DVD, and comments about the age of a film have already been proven time and again to NOT be a factor in regard to the quality of a transfer.

Then what's the reason then? Is it the transfer???

I watched these films a million times on VHS and DVD growing up. Getting the BD set was like watching them again for the first time.

that is so true! im 24 and literally wore out the tapes of these films i watched them so much. but now that i own rather large HDTV and bluray allows such crisp detail in films, its like WOW. i thought they all looked amazing frankly, and the amount of detail you can see now makes it a totally new experience. yes some are not as good as others, and im so happy with Return transfer, that movie is not only my 2nd favorite ofthe batmans, but its just looks amazing. very happy with this set, and im glad to now have both the batman and superman anthologies on bluray dvd's. batman and superman are literallythe ONLY superhero's i love. i will admit though, i did not care for the new batmans. the new superman was alright, im glad they stayed in the richard donner realm, but i just couldnt get into the new batman films. they just didnt feel like batman movies, in the classic sense. they arent fun to me, and come off as totally pretentious and self-important, and the realism bogs down the movie alot. just not for me. ihope the next series of movies goes back to basics and are more "event" films like the batman movies used to be in the 90's.

and PLEASE get rid of that "tumbler" crap. a batmobile, that aint.
