If that is the case then sadly there isn't a nice clean solution until Sony lets you choose how to send the audio (PCM or bitstream) while playing a game off a disc. Similar to how they do it for BD/DVD playback.

Unfortunately i have a feeling that is exactly the problem and Sony should address this. Seems more and more people are beginning to notice this.
