The show is ok. It really only started to get real good towards the end and then BAM... show cancelled! It's really sad because this show had great potential. Many people said that the reason it had poor ratings when it initially aired was because it wasn't aired in proper order. And I agree.

Hmm posted that like a month and a half ago, and actually paid $6 less than that. Anyway, I went on vacaton just as the package arrived at my house, so all I had time to do was open it and check the contents. I'm very much looking forward to delving into this one, then rewatching Serenity.

I didn't even realize that. I saw that this thread was resurrected and then just read the last few posts without paying attention to the dates they were posted.

This is Science-FICTION about a future where China & U.S.A. ended up the dominant cultures so there was a mix of languages forming a new, fictional language the "Chinese" you are referring to . It is not Chinese. It's a fictional mix. Just like there really isn't any Klingon language in STTNG <GRIN>

While this might be the be all, end all of prices, Costco has the series for $18.99. We have it on DVD, but I'm considering picking it up on BD when my wife goes to Costco next. Loved the show.

Sure it will still make sense, but it does help to watch the series before the movie. It adds more information concerning the universe, characters, etc.

Firefly is one of the greatest sci-fi shows of all time. To the haterz? You probably didn't like it when you saw it. I think too many hold television shows like Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek as the best of what sci-fi has to offer and that's just wrong. These are all good shows and 20th Century Fox didn't realize what they had until after they had canceled the series.

But, I agree. It's better to watch the television series before watching the movie, though it's not required. It just gives you a better understanding of the events and the characters otherwise you'll be left asking yourself a bunch of questions about these characters and how the movie was centered on River.

I've watched Firefly several times, twice on Blu-ray and it gets better with each viewing. I', just shocked that Fox didn't think enough of the series to re-start production after the DVD sets started selling like hotcakes. Fox could have restarted the series with Season 2.

I saw Serenity before seeing the series and enjoyed it a great deal. Some characters are obviously less developed than in the series, but it's a good Star Wars '76 style futuristic swashbuckler.

Hey, just noticed you're in MI. Yeah, I moved from NO to LA in 2000. Been back only a few times (all since Katrina) and I'm not really liking the city all that much anymore aside from the food. I'm actually at my sister's in Chalmette, so it's better where we are.

Good point. Having missed Firefly's original run, I'd love to see a season as it aired. The fanbase certainly is expansive now, so I'm sure the ratings would be better than the first season's. I wonder if this has been discussed over at the Fox lot.

AWESOME MEME! And NO, it doesn't seem right at all. I just officially finished my very first viewing of this wonderful series last week. I loved this show. Great characters, witty writing. The CGI wasn't very good in the beginning, but that's to be expected. It certainly got better near the end. Especially the episode in the big city, when they're

I really wish there was more to dig into. And now I can say I like Serenity a little more, and it actually all makes sense to me now.

I'm already looking forward to watching the series/movie again.
