Uh, you posted here in 1995? 11 years before BD even hit the market? (Edit: Yes, I know this site was around while BD was still in development; but that didn't take 11 years. IIRC they were still developing DVD back in '95.)

Seriously, where exactly is this "theatrical release thread" you speak of?

I honestly feel like this is one of the worst sequels disney made, they messed up history already couldn't they have kept it that way haha But on a side note,
do we really have to have another discussion on how people think the sequels shouldn't get a release, yes some are bad, but some are good, and some people DO like some of the sequels just because you don't like them doesn't mean they shouldn't get a blu-ray release, BUT I do agree that you shouldn't be forced to purchase the sequels together, but at least were not getting a wierd box set.

exactly! I believe every Disney film should be released. If it should have been been in the first place, that's another topic but since they have, there is no reason not to release them.

I'm pretty sure that was home theater forum. That's where I posted before Home Theater Talk, then AVS later in 1997.

I don't think no one is against sequels being released.(I certainly don't) Definitely release all of them. What the people who hate the sequels(me) care is about releasing it SEPARATELY from the original theatrical movie. Just give us the choice like Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, and Bambi. We just don't ever want to see a release like Fox and the Hound again. That's what we are arguing, and I will speak up every time that there is a chance of this happening again. And I personally don't understand people who were satisfied with Fox and the Hound release or Pocahontas(we don't have confirmation on this, right?) How can you be satisfied with having lack of choice? Just like people who like the sequels to buy them if they want, I want people who hate the sequels to NOT buy them. That's the argument, it's not about sequels getting released - just do it separately.

I know that. I don't like this sequel and wouldn't want to be forced to buy it not because it might cost me something extra (which it won't) but simply cause it's an awful movie.
but a lot of people here dislike the sequels and say thing like "Disney whould let them rot in hell" etc etc. that's what I was arguing

what did you mean about the "we don't have confirmation for this" bit?

The only Disney sequels that I have seen (I think this is complete) are Lion King 2, Toy Story 2, Cars 2, National Treasure 2 & 3, Pirates of the Caribbean 2 & 3, Lilo & Stitch 2. I don't want blind buys.

The cover looks just like a TELENOVELA. That's not good at all. They even put the other dude instead of John Smith!? wow..

The ONLY good Disney animated sequel (indeed, one superior to the original) is The Rescuers Down Under, and that only because it was released theatrically. The direct-to-video stuff is drek across the board, and I resent being forced to buy them alongside the originals.

you base how good a sequel it was on it being released theatrically? besides, a lot of the sequels got theatrical releases on different countries. I remember seing Return to Neverland at the cinema as a kid.

What he said is that "the Rescuers Down Under" was the only one that was really made for a theatrical release, so it was made with so much better quality than the others. "Return to never land" and "bambi 2" where made to release them directly to video, but just happened that at the end, they didn't, and they got to cinemas.

First day purchase for sure. I'm glad Disney is cranking out the releases all of sudden.

Also, If other countries are getting each movie separately then the cover posted a few posts back might be real because it's the same as the Australian cover art for the DVD released the same day http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/d...edition/233306
WOW! I'm amazed that they could make a cover design so good! Pocahontas is even on model! Too bad that they're gonna release the second movie together with the original, but otherwise, I'm very excited to see how it'll look like in HD!

Some people DON'T think that they should be released AT ALL, I feel that every movie should get a release, its already been made, so why not just let it have a release? Heck, if you don't want it, don't get it! I do though agree 100% that disney should not force a sequel upon someone though.

ah ok. but as i said, some sequels like

Lion King 2
Lion King 1 1/2
Cinderella 3
Return to Neverland
Bambi 2

had excellent animation and were not bad (production-quality-wise). and I'm fairly sure that some of them were made with theatrical releases in mind and not as an afterthought.

How about a sequel to another Disney animation released the same year then? Mulan 2.

IMO the best sequels made were:

-Lion King 2
-Cinderella 3
-Peter pan 2: Return to Neverland
-Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Christmas.
-Mulan 2

I haven't seen the second Bambi but I am not a huge fan of the first one.

Never got into the Rescuers Down Under.. I dont call that a sequel because it is featured in the 50 Disney Animated Movies.

The non WDAS sequels should not have been made in the first place (TLK2:SP does have it's merits though) but seeing as they are already out there, then I'm not particularly against releasing them on BD, but I am wholeheartedly against them being bundled with the originals, which I find appalling form Disney tbh. I thought Disney were as equally ashamed of the Eisner cheapquals as most fans are! That was the impression we were given anyway, especially from Lasseter, and now they are being force fed to people by being bundled with the original classics, to make an extra buck because they know they wouldn't be able to shift the cr@p on their own merits.

I'm a huge Disney fan, and have given/give a fortune to the Walt Disney company, but I feel as though I should not be supporting these releases at all. I'll import a copy of the Original Pocahontas from a country where it's released separately.

Disney as lost more and more of my business in the last three years. I will not tell them how to conduct their business and how they should release their movies and at what price. However I can refuse to purchase what they are selling me for the price they are asking and that's what I have been doing. I enjoy their movies but not at the price they are selling them here in Canada and not when they package them for catalogue release with DVD (I already have the DVD why would I buy it again?) digital copy (I have no interest in seeing in on my cell phone).

They are free to do as they please, I am free not to buy it

Sorry, I didn't read the entire thread, so I didn't know if it was mentioned or not. All I saw was that Australian version was being released in double pack. Is the double pack confirmed for US release too? (I really really hope not)
