no, I get what you mean. I'd like a simpler cover than this as well.

I can understand that they probably can't justify a solo release for a lot of these sequels like they can with BaTB, Bambi, and TLK, but I don't see why they can't have a solo release of the original films, and then also have a 2-movie collection for those who want the sequels as well (I mean, who would buy the sequels without buying the originals anyway?).

I really hope we get that solo release in the U.S. And it would be nice if they backtracked and gave FaTH a solo release as well, though I'm not really hoping for anything at this point.

I was excited when I THOUGHT I could finally get Pocahontas. I loved it when I saw it during the summer, although I hated as a child. However, Disney is releasing it with its sequel so that's a broken dream. I can not bring myself to endorse this packaging. The cover art is atrocious, also. I mean, look at that thing! Unless Disney releases a separate release for this classic, I won't buy it.

I've tried contacting Disney, on another note. DOUBT they even read it. A guy can try right?

I actually like the cover. People over at DVDizzy are complaining about Meeko being so big, but I don't see the issue because 1) he's in the foreground, and 2) it's a collage, not a cast portrait where everyone's occupying the same space live. Drew Struzan's posters fill space with varying character sizes and no one complains about those. My only beef with the cover is that John Smith really should be on it instead of another Pocahontas. They very obviously just repurposed the excellent VHS cover from the original release:

[Show spoiler]

Since a 2-Movie Collection is pretty much guaranteed for us at this point, I wonder what that means for Pocahontas' laserdisc/10th Anniversary Edition bonus features. If those got dropped (which they shouldn't considering how little space SD video takes up), I'll probably throw out the inevitable DVD copies included and replace those with my 10th Anniversay discs.

I guess this also means every non-Diamond animated classic will be packaged with its sequel, which would mean the following:

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh/??? (Pooh's Grand Adventure? The new Winnie the Pooh film? I'm hoping for the former)
The Hunchback of Notre Dame/The Hunchback of Notre Dame II
Mulan/Mulan II
Tarzan/Tarzan II
The Emperor's New Groove/Kronk's New Groove
Atlantis: The Lost Empire/Atlantis II: Milo's Return (though this was a cancelled TV series, and since the similar Belle's Magical World didn't get a BD release...)
Lilo & Stitch/Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch
Brother Bear/Brother Bear II

I think the only exception would be Aladdin since that had two sequels, and while I see Disney offering a three-movie collection ala Lion King, I can't see them making that the sole release for the original.

A lot of people are surely going to cry foul over all that, but it doesn't bother me. So long as video, audio, and supplements aren't affected, I don't care if a glorified bonus feature is thrown in and given placement on the cover artwork.

I don't mind having the sequels really. However, some of them are just horrendous. Guess we will wait and see. I wonder if they would make more money selling them individually or together like fox and the hound was.

I'm pretty certain these will have special features included.

yeah, since we have confirmation that the films are on separate discs, there should be plenty of extra space for special features.

I thought it was great they added that in for the special edition though I love the pop / single version of the song more by Jon Secada & Shanice. 90's nostalgia right there.

I'm expecting all the classic DVD features to be in it. Won't have to keep switching between discs now to watch Colors of the Wind and the other!

Oh, really? I didn't realize they'd be on separate discs. I figured they'd be on the same one ala Fox and the Hound. That's certainly good news.

We have no such confirmation. The fact that some countries have stand-alone releases does not confirm that the 2-movie collection is not single disc. They may have simply split the content on the blu-ray disc. The U.K. for example is getting The Fox and The Hound blu-rays separately.
