Those 2 subs won't equal one LFM-1plus/ex. They just won't. Just because you have two of something doesn't make it better. Buy the outlaw.

Outlaw is definitely better than any thing Elemental Design, and Epik sell with in the same price range. When it comes to SVS and HSU clearly there subs will be a little more advanced ( although Dr HSU helped design The LFM) but you'll also pay a little more for the same quality. I consider HSU a company that's focused on sound and aesthetics which means youre going to pay a little for "style" and luxury. You said you wanted to spend no more than $500. With a budget like $500. You won't find a sub better than the EX at $549. I can guarantee that. And I clearly like Outlaw as a brand more since I opted for them over ED, Epik, HSU, and SVS.

Well right now. The EX is on sale for the same price as the plus. I'll tell you now my plus is crazy. I keep the port plugged for the lower bass and the volume only up half way and it still shakes my whole house, you can feel it on the top floor from the basement level. I went with the Plus because size wise I felt the EX was slightly bigger than my space warranted. Looking back in retrospect I probably shouldve just spent the $100 extra, and dealt with the humongousness. I'll be honest though the plus is way more than enough. You can never go too big because you can always turn the volume down. You can go to weak though, no way to fix that. At the price now the EX is clearly the better deal. Come St. Pattys day the plus usually drops $100 also. The plus is more than enough and probably too much for any one with AV gear in the price range of $1-$3 grand, but if you want the EX just for peace of mind,to know you got the top model than get it. Otherwise it really is unnecessary.

Thanks so much for your insight. I am planning on mating a sub with my paradigm pw 2200 (1500 watts/500RMS). Sounds like the lfm1 ex would be a close match to the 2200.
I am also considering the new Klipsch sw 115. It seems to have a little more power than paradigms dsp 3400. The new monitor series of subs from paradigm sounded crappy to me. I like that hsu helped create the lfm series. Seems with hsuresearch products you pay for fancy veneers. I know that the hsu subs are slightly reinforced. I read somewhere that the breathing of the hsu subs is better. However, that doesn't justify the additional cost in my mind. Guess the only way to truly know is to audition them. I am leary about buying something i can't see or hear first. There are some new subs coming from goldenear that seem to have the power rating of my 2200, but i think the numbers may be inflated as i have learned from other forum members (1500 wattz down to 12hz for the goldenear forcefield 5) is a big promise? I really like outlaw products in general. Would much rather have a sub or power amplifier from them than emotiva. Nothing wrong with emo gear, just feel it is overpriced comparitively. |

How's the time to get the Ex. I can pretty much guarantee if you buy it. You won't be sending it back.

Thanks for all the comments and opinions guys. You got me really thinking about the outlaw sub. The only thing I am Leary of is the size of it. I thought the SVS would make a nice addition due to its 14" square pretty much. I have a isolation sub dude that is 15x15x2 that I use to use for my SVS cylinder sub I had last year
I love the fact that the out law can hit so low. But I also live in a townhouse condo and want to avoid shaking the whole unit, more of nice clean full bass through out the room. I figure the sub dude will help with that. By the way $500 was just a reference price. Like I said in a earlier post if I have to go a little more i will. |

I don't think it's a guarantee to be happy in that price range. I've been watching this thread, and I'm not in anyones pocket, but I know ryan4blu can afford more. I don't think he will be happy with it, after owning a SVS.

![]() That's funny and yes I do love SVS, but at this point I can only afford the entry level sealed sub they have. That's why I was considering other sub choices |

Maybe you want to look into their compact 10 inch version. Buy what will make you happy. Maybe Outlaw is not for you. Anything else in that range compared just seems a waste. But I don't know that's just my opinion.
