I think they should forget H2 ever happened, or have it be a hallucination from a traumatized Laurie. While I don't like how RZ just had to make Michael Myers a white trash abused sociopath, I can get past it. It definitely was much scarier to have a child from a nice family just snap. The unknown is far more unnerving. But I'd rather they just continue, since it would be easy to ignore the faults that RZ's films had. I cannot acknowledge Resurrection. To me, the original series ended with H20. The powerful climax/ending to H20 was completely ruined in the 3 or so minutes that Resurrection started with. Horrible.

At this point, they're just going to reboot again. No connection to the Zombie films. Wasn't the original plan, but enough time has passed now.

In this day and age, yes. Amazing Spider-man is coming out 5 years after that last entry of the previous series, with the new Fantastic 4 not too far behind it...and I'll bet you money that a new Batman revamp will hit even sooner after Dark Knight Rises. I think American audiences at this time are not hung up on quick reboots like we might've been years ago.

All good points. I think the series definitely needs a reboot. While I was one of the few who really liked Zombies H2 (not so much the first one), I do think the series needs a fresh start.

I was not exactly ecstatic about either release in the theater, but I've since grown an appreciation for both director cuts on DVD. While they're severely flawed, I noticed a lot of humanity in both that I seemed to initially overlook. They'll certainly be interesting footnotes in the history of the series. But now, I'm looking forward to a new take. Something classic, yet something exciting. Not sure if that balance can be achieved at this point, but we shall see.

I wonder if Octavia Spencer regrets doing H2?

Being a die hard Halloween fan I dont even consider Zombies Halloween re-makes movies. To me they are utter drivel and thats being nice. You want to make another Halloween movie? Do what ever it takes to bring back the creator and directer of the first one and that mans name is John Carpenter. But since Carpenter seems not to want to have anything to do with the Halloween franchise at least bring in a directer who has vision and who cares. As for re-makes in general my feeling is there have been good ones like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and I cant believe I am going to say this Friday The 13th. To me those were good re-makes of a horror movie. But if they just want to make fast money then leave Halloween and Michael Myers alone because frankly Zombie has done enough damage with the 2 POS re-makes he came out with.

Thats my take on this topic.

I hated the F13th remake. It had the most annoying characters ever. And I know the characters in Zombies weren't much better, but I still preferred the story of Zombie's Halloween II much more than F13th. That's my personal opinion though so peace.

Carpenter will NEVER, EVER come back. People really need to get over it.

To claim Zombie doesn't have vision is simply flat incorrect. You may find his vision lacking to your liking, but if the guy has ONE thing going for him, its a consistent style through and through.

and lol. TCM and F13? Really? Did you enjoy Conan the Barbarian, too? Nispel is the most brain-dead director breathing today. He's well on his way to inheriting Uwe Boll's throne

I agree 100% with you. The Friday the 13th remake was ridiculous and the characters annoying. Aside from the gratuitous T&A, I wfound the whole "hidden basement baby torture" idea too cliche and all of a sudden Jason could run and drive cars and all sorts of fast moving junk. I hated it.

TCM with Jessica Biel i thought was the right balance of old and new and really skeeved me out.

As far as H1 and H2 by Zombie, I love them both. I think he did the best with what he had, made a nice 2-part complete story arc that came around full circle, and while parts were problematic for me, I aprreciate the modern faithfulness he attempted.

To the poster several messages ago- you do realize that John Carpenter consulted with Zombie and read the treatment and gave his blessing before RZ would move forward because of his utter respect for the films? And Carpenter really loved how he expanded the backstory and delved into the psycho ward and escape scene.

And, Zombie refused at first to be any part of his eventual H2, but when he got wind of the potential next screenplay pitches (michael in space ala Jason X) he could let that f-up what he had just done and just keep having these random single serve flicks. So on short notice he got involved and turned it around in less then half a year.

My only complaint- why did both come out in August when an October release would have definitely earned it more $$$.

Sorry, but I never heard any of that outside of Carpenter giving his blessing to do the film. No mention of him reading a treatment or "loving" any aspect of the story.

Even though the last Halloween III did not have Myers, I enjoyed it. It was something different and thought it was well executed.

The best part of the initial H3D script was that they were going to cast Tom Atkins in it. That means he'd have been in two different films titled Halloween 3. That sort of stuff could mess with the space-time continuum.

This is a common complaint that goes all the way back to H20... It seems studios think more money can be made during the summer when the kiddies are off....well that's one theory. My theory is studios don't wanna go head to head with the Saw, and now Paranormal Activity movies that seem to be juggernauts. They'd rather not fill up the fall with too many horror movies and compete with inferior (excluding Saw 1 and 2, and this is MY opinion and not fact) franchises. Fall time is the best time for horror movies...
