That is the concert by which all others are judged (sound quality) for me. Although a lot of that has to do with the small venue

I've heard a lot about Gong, but I've never heard any of their music.

I'll take some pics with my crappy cellphone camera, but I'm hoping my friend will bring his camera over soon, and I'll get some better screenshots, and hopefully replace all of my HT roomshots too. My camera makes everything look dull and dingy, and kind of yellow/green.

Well at least digital cameras are getting less expensive.

The place were i checked out reviews for deciding on my current camera (Samsung ST70). Well this was before they decided to change too a new crappy web design.

Just been running errands and washing clothes. I've had a rough week at work, but I've got the next few days off.

Right now I'm listening to:



I think I'm going to have a movie marathon in my HT room this evening. I've spent the better part of two months setting up my room, moving my subs around over and over again, and calibrating my A/V settings. I haven't really had a lot of time to just kick back, veg out, and really enjoy it.

I should be receiving my new front speakers tomorrow between 12~4pm. Yay!

I did have Polk Audio M series speakers all around(except for my subs), and my center channel was the weakest one, so after a few months of research, and a few recommendations from Big Daddy, I bought a Home Theater Direct (HTD) level three center a few weeks ago. I really loved it, so I began deciding on whether to get the matching towers or bookshelves, and seeing that the bookshelves have the exact same tweeter, same size mid/woofer driver, and crossover as my center(plus they're $500 less than the towers), I ordered them.

The level threes have Kapton ribbon tweeters rated up to 40khz, which seemed ridiculous to me, but after listening to them, I think the whole point is that when they are reproducing something around 15~20k, it's like a walk in the park.

These ribbon tweeters have magnets in front of and behind the tweeter, which from my research is called a "push/pull" design. Apparently some cheaper ribbons only have rear magnets, and are much more prone to distortion and damage.

My old Polk center had a much more muted dull sound quality, yet still occasionally would distort with sibilant sounds. The HTD is much more clear and natural sounding, with much better transient response, and I have yet to hear the slightest hint of any distortion. Even though they are brighter and clearer, strangely enough, I can turn it up much louder with no distortion or listener fatigue.

My new center also has much better bottom-end extension than my old Polk, and more depth and/or dimensionality. The midrange is much smoother too. Suffice to say, I like it!

Sorry, I don't always know what I'm talking about, but when I get on a roll, it's hard to stop sometimes.

Congrats on the new speakers!

I am very interest in that John Mclaughlin album. I will be back to check out more music ideas. Should sound good on the new speakers.
