Moderator note: Cane Toads: The Conquest was released on 3D Blu-ray in Australia, the UK and Russia. The Australian disc is Region B locked but the UK disc is REGION FREE.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Original post: I've been looking forward to seeing this film for a long time. It had been delayed and just arrived from amazon.co.uk - - - It looks like an all region disc. I tested it on a USA Region A PS3 & a European Region B Sony BDP S-780 Blu-ray player: Here is the trailer: Quote: Mark Lewis (Cane Toads: An Unnatural History) explores one of Australia s greatest environmental catastrophes as he follows the unstoppable march of the cane toad across the Australian continent. Despised by many, venerated by some, the toad has occupied a nation s consciousness achieving both cult and criminal status. Despite its international origin the cane toad has become uniquely Australian yet, for a world wrestling with the idea that we have irretrievably altered our own ecosystem, its story holds universal relevance. Featuring a host of engaging characters as well as thousands of toads, Cane Toads 3D - The Conquest is a humorous yet thought-provoking journey into the issue of invasive species. I haven't watched it yet - but this weekend for sure! Last edited by the13thman; 01-25-2022 at 08:53 AM. |

I remember seeing a documentary about frogs/toads "invading" man's territory, and chirping loudly throughout the entire night while the people tried to sleep. They would attack the toads harshly whenever they found them.
I like frogs/toads. I'd be very interested in this if it's released to the US at a fair price. $19.99 for example. How long is the show again? |

Been unsure about this one, so I haven't given it a blind buy. But I have a rental in my queue from Quikflix. Bet I'll enjoy it and wish I'd bought it... |

I'm not from Australia but we get a lot of Australia's news and they seem a real problem over there. They are wiping everything else out because they are poisonous and even Crocodiles die after eating 5-6 of these things and they are spreading like crazy. With that knowledge I wouldn't mind watching them being killed for a couple of hours, could be fun.

Lol, not from Australia, but New Zealand? So if you do something great, like get nominated or win an Oscar, our news service will definately claim you as one of us. However, if you then go ahead and let the fame get to you and wind up throwing a telephone at somebody the news will have you back listed under; kiwi. |

I saw a doc on the cane toad not that long ago on one of the nature shows, not sure if it was this exact one. Was real crazy to see the groups they send out at night to capture them. People were filling bags up with them in a fairly short period of time (and they were being frozen to kill them). It would be very interesting to see this in 3d (prob a rental from me).

Got my copy from amazon.uk yesterday so watched it today. I'll... probably be never moving to Australia anytime soon.
![]() 3D was... not as good as I thought it'll be. Some shots have great depth but not a lot of those to really say this was worth blind buying. And yes, there were a lot of good afternoon shots. I thought they'll at least show the toad putting its tongue out of screen... at least once... but no, nothing like that. I think the only real good "pop out" was when someone pointed a rifle out of the screen to kill a toad, in case someone was wondering about some kind of pop out in the movie. But no toads flying out of the screen or anything. Gotta say... I wouldn't recommend eating anything while watching this. Some were just disturbing. But hey, if that's how they do it over there then who am I to judge. |

It's not so shocking that they sang it, because with the way the media is most of us think they are Australian. I did until a few years back. The judges however, should have known better.
