I'll probably make some MDF stands like I did for my center. I've thought about gluing some thin dense foam rubber where the speaker sits, and also mounting some spikes in the baseplate.

I would like to get some nice metal stands filled with sand, but I can make my own stands for almost nothing. How much difference to you think the quality of the stands would make?

A noticeable difference.

I have been thinking of filling my stands with sand too. Just not sure how to do it. Put a liner in first, as there are holes for the wires at the bottom?

Spikes would be nice to. My plates are for bigger speakers. Need new holes drilled and tapped. Too much like work, so have rubber feet on them atm. Also, thought of getting some kind of isolation pads/feet. I know a store in Taipei that sells Vibrapods.

Yeah, I listened to both discs of The Fragile last night. It's a very well mixed album.

Thanks Al. Earlier, I said that my old Polks had more bottom end heft, but after several hours of strictly 2ch listening, I realized that the HTDs actually went deeper, but with a flatter response. The Polks are just kind of bloated around 80~100hz. Every aspect of my new speakers is much better than the Polks. About the only thing that I don't like about them, is the "horn loaded" look of the flared tweeter face plate. At first, I thought that it might be made of hard plastic, but it's actually metal. Probably aluminum. They are built very solid, but again, I don't care for the horn loaded look. But as I will be keeping the grilles on them, it doesn't really matter, because they sound great!

Hi Joe.

I have a question.

Have you centered your couch, center speaker and screen too the middle of the room? Doing this will help out the sound in your room.

An interesting article you may want to read. Including it's sub-links.

RealTraps - Acoustic Basics

Cool pic!

I did center everything about a week ago, but I've fidgeted around with everything a bit since then. I probably need to whip out the tape measure again. I read the main article, but I'll dig into the sub-links a little later. It's an interesting read, thanks!

Last night all I did was listen to two chanel music to check out my new fronts. I think I'm going to go fire up the whole system and watch a movie or two in a few minutes, after this crazy scary storm passes through.

What's up fellas?

A bad storm blew through here about six hours ago, with some tornados, which are pretty uncommon around here, but luckily nothing bad happened.

I just realized it's almost 5am here, so I need to get to bed. I have a big day of jamming with my old guitarist friend, and getting stoned and drunk tomorrow evening.

A man has to have his priorities in order.

You guys have a great night, or day, or whatever it is.

Check ya later, my homies!

Thanks for checking in on my Joe. I was worried about all of our Bluray brothers that lived in the path of the storms last night. Looks like everyone survived.
