Dude, that's hilarious!

I had another jam session last night. It was a lot of fun. I went out today and picked up:

&

I've never seen any of 'Game of Thrones', but from the reviews I've read, it should be awesome.

I know nothing of 'Game of Thrones' either but im guessing it's some sort of lotr type tv series.

Have fun with these..Im on a bluray purchasing hiatus. Saving up so i can pay up most of what i owe on the Denon the on April 1.

Next up an Oppo bluray player and a good projector calibrator (>more info<).

Thanks for stopping by Spaceape and Wabo. I got some bad news about my new center channel. I was just settling in to watch a couple of episodes of Game of Thrones, and I noticed the dialog was a bit muffled. I put on some music and noticed that the tweeter is blown.

Last night I put on the train crash scene from Super 8, and had it turned up pretty loud. That was the last thing I watched at the end of the night, and then just turned everything off and didn't notice there was a problem. There is a friend of mine on here named Mark who blew his Paradigm center tweeter on the same scene:

On a more positive note, I just called Home Theater Direct and told the guy what happened, and he said that it shouldn't matter that I had it cranked up because they torture test their speakers, and that supposedly this is a rare situation. He apologized and said that they will be shipping me a brand new center channel speaker tomorrow. I have to ship the old one back to them, but they are paying for that too.

It's very disappointing, but at least it will be taken care of.

Your not the first person I have read that said they blew out their tweets after watching Super 8. Your lucky they are going to take care of you Joe.

Yeah, MEB(Mark) blew his a little over three months ago on the same exact scene.

HTD has great customer support. The guy apologized and immediately said they will send me a brand new center channel tomorrow, no charge shipping, and no charge for shipping back the old one.

They also offer a 30 day in home trial, and if you're not happy, they refund your purchase including the original shipping charge, plus they pay to ship it back, so not one penny spent. I asked him about it, since my 30 day trial is up in just a few days, and he said that I will have another 30 days after receiving my replacement, and that they will still except returns way past the 30 days if you're not happy. I'd like to have that in writing, but I tend to believe him.

Having to wait for the new one to arrive is going to suck, but at least I've still got my old Polk center channel to tide me over.

Well then you will need to try and blowup the next one too. That is what I would do. I played that scene on my older Klipsch Forte II speakers....at reference....and came thru with no damage.

Sorry to hear about your center channel, Frog. That sucks. It's great HTD is taking care of you and paying for return shipping. It's the inconvenience of it all that's such a pain.

I have Super 8 but it's still sealed. I should bust it open and see what all the fuss is about.

Thanks Wabo.

I have already switched it out with my old Polk center, so at least I've got something.

Have you not ever seen Super 8, or just not the blu-ray yet? I really love that movie. It feels like a summer feel-good movie from back in the 70s or 80s when I was a kid. The 7.1 Dolby TrueHD audio, especially during the train crash scene is just wrong. It can surprise you too, because a good bit of it is just dialog, but when some action kicks in, look out!

You'll have to forgive HTG. He's done been Cher'd and not thinking clearly.

At least you have a spare center channel to get you by in the interim. I saw Super 8 in the theater, but haven't seen it since. One of these days I'll get around to opening my blu.

No Wabo that happen awhile ago so I think you need to let it go.

What I am saying Joe, is take advantage of the new 30 day trial period and see if this speaker can truely handle CC duties. Are you always going to wonder if the next over the top surround movie is going to damage your speakers after the warranty has expired. I would like to test that while there is still refunds and free shipping involved.
