Thanks for the help Russ and Tommy.

The only main things I have left to upgrade are my surround speakers which I plan to replace with the matching HTD dipoles, the receiver which I will probably replace with a much better Onkyo or Denon refurb from accessories4less(probably won't go with seperate amps, at least not at first, and Russ - I don't care much for bells and whistles either), and my subs which I would like to replace with a matching pair of SVSs.

What the hell Al? Where's my damn picture!

I just received my replacement center channel a couple of hours ago, and I also just finished building my front speaker stands to replace the half empty paint cans I had stacked on top of each other. After measuring, the wobbly paint cans had my tweeters 11" lower than ear level, and I made sure to meticulously measure everything so that with my new stands, the very center of the ribbon tweeters are exactly at ear level.

I have everything set up and hooked up, but I haven't fired it up yet. I did take some pics of the new stands though:

[Show spoiler]

I know that ideally it's best to have all three front speaker's tweeters at the exact same height, but I have my center speaker angled upward, so that if I stretch up as high as I can while seated, I can barely see the very tops of all three speakers, so this is about as close as I can get them with my particular setup.

My new stands may not be the best, but I'm sure they will help my speakers sound much better than the way too low, half empty, wobbly paint cans I was using. I'm really excited to check out my new center and my fronts setup more properly. I almost feel like I just got a whole new setup today.

It all looks very great Joe. No faults from were i am sitting.

Congrats on getting your replacement center speaker set up. Lets hope that nothing bad happens this time around.

I just fell off my chair reading your post.

Right smack in the middle of your post you had this

What the hell Al? Where's my damn picture!

and then you just went on with the rest of your post.

I have tears running down my face right now I'm laughing so hard.

Thanks a lot Tommy.

I really think a big part of the problem was just me going way overboard on the volume during one of the craziest scenes ever, but I bet that if I had a cleaner stronger power source, there's a good chance that it wouldn't have blown. I'm not going to be timid with the new speaker, but I'm still going to try to use some common sense.

Thanks Aero.

Yes, I have all weekend to just enjoy my setup.

I think tonight I'm going to throw on several blu-ray concerts, and do a little celebrating:
,then tomorrow I'll recuperate and enjoy a few movies.

Thanks Brent.

I just used what I could find around the house left over from other projects. The only thing I had to go buy was a $1 can of flat black paint, and I still have some of that left, so I've got about 35 cents invested in each stand.

I'm glad I entertained you Al. I was in the middle of painting and setting up my replacement speaker and taking pictures, so instead of quoting everybody, I just tried to respond in order. I did think that it kind of stood out from the rest of what I was saying though.

Thanks Russ ,But Al said to blow it as soon as it arrived.

Right now I'm just playing some good old fashioned compressed as hell radio stations through it. I figured that would be good for a little break in time before I blow the crap out of it tonight.

Not those exact words cause if someone does not know the whole story that might get interpreted the wrong way.

BTW here's your damn picture.

Sorry Al, I should've put a "" in there.

That's my kind of woman! Blonde hair and blue eyes don't really do that much for me, but dark hair and dark eyes...

I just watched Jeff Beck @ Ronnie Scott's and I'm in the middle of Foo Fighters @ Wembley, and I can honestly say that this is the best my HT has ever sounded. After about an hour or more of adjusting the front speaker's position, along with getting them up to ear level with the new stands, it's been a revelation.

I just finished watching the entire 10 hours of Game of Thrones on blu-ray today. I had never seen any of it, and I really loved it. If you can imagine Lord of the Rings with a little less sorcery/magic and a little more medieval politics, that's kind of what it's like. It felt more like a big budget movie than a tv show, and the video quality is absolutely perfect. The audio was great too. Although there's quite a bit of dialog scenes, the surrounds and LFE kick in when it's needed. Personally I would've liked a little more LFE overall, but it does have some great moments.

I did have a few technical problems with the discs though. If I tried to do anything except play or pause, it would reload like you just inserted it in the player. If I tried to rewind it for just a second, it would start over. If I tried to fast forward over the opening credits, it would start over. It's also kind of odd that disc 1 has 2 episodes, disc 2 has 3, disc 3 has 1, disc 4 has 3, disc 5 has 1, even though all of them are about 55 minutes each. Also, you can put in any disc in the set, select any of the 10 episodes, and if that particular episode is not on that disc, it will tell you to insert the other disc. Why have an option to select an episode that's not even on that disc?

The A/V quality and the story itself are all awesome, but the disc navigation is terrible.

Boardwalk Empire has the same option to select every episode on ever disc too.

Game of Thrones is on its way here. Looking forward to seeing it. Like the political side of those shows. Love Rome! The Tudors is good too.

Seen The Borgias? Really looks interesting.

Hey, herr Frogmeister.

Would you say Game of Thrones is blind buy worthy? I like the premise, but I very rarely rewatch tv shows on blu/DVD. Not my bag, baby.

Joe have you tried firmware updating your bluray player? Maybe this will help with your playback issues.

Actually, I haven't seen any of those shows you listed. I don't watch a lot of tv. I just bought this because from what I'd read, it reminded me of Lord of the Rings, and also because of Ken Brown's rave review. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
