the frame to thick for you or do you not like the glass. I personally loe the glass look on it.

Pretty much both; for me its the thinner the better.
I like just plain black thin frames so they dont take away from the picture.
I was very close to pulling the trigger, bur decided against it since it would bug me.

I can't believe you don't have a Pioneer Kuro on your shortlist! Add the Pioneer, with the Panasone '750 a close second.

As for which technology: friends don't let friends do LCD. :-)

Getting this one in a week. If the TV will be in a room with a bunch of light go with the Sony LCD. If it will be in a dark room like mine will be (basement) go Plasma.

I'd get a 60A3000. No LCD will touch it's black levels or contrast ratio at the resolution and size for that money. Neither will plasma unless spending thousands more...

go with one of the new sony rear projection screens. they have 1080p, 120hz, hdmi 1.3, etc. all for a very good price. only issue is you can't hang them on the wall.

invisible clouds or ghosting is common. sometimes its even your eyes adjusting to the light when you turn it off.

The "wear" you are reffering to is not gradual: Plasma's will look 100% until they reach "half life". Most Plasma's have 60 000+ hours so half life is 30 000 hours.

30 000 hours half life gives you this:

Light use: 2 hours/day weekdays & weekends = 15 hours/week = 38.4 years until half life

Medium use: 2 hours/day weekdays + 8 hours/day weekends = 25 hours/week = 23 years until half life

Heavy Use: 4 hours/day weekdays + 12 hours/day weekends = 45 hours/week = 12.82 years until half life

XTRM Heavy Use: 8 hours/day weekdays +12 hours/day weekends = 65 hours/week = 8.87 years until half life
Business use (on when awake): 16 hours/day 7 days a week = 112 hours/week = 5.15 years until half life

Industrial use (24 hours/day 7 days a week) = 168 hours/week = 3.4 years until half life

P.S. The bulb on a RPTV is NOT 200$ max... it's more like 200$ min and can easily go up to 500-600$ (depending on the model). I have a 51" Sony RPTV since August 2004 and have'nt replaced the bulb on it (knock on wood) and it has 12 000+ hours. When/if the bulb on it goes... so does the TV (craigslist for 300$) and then it's a flat panel unlimited contrast ratio Pioneer Kuro Plasma for me (60" or 75"). I just hope the bulb in my current RPTV holds up until they are released

For the OP question: Go with the 50" Panny Plasma
