Allen Gregory cancelled and FOX uncertain about Fringe and House....

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...64.html?ref=tv

I don't mind House but i really hope they don't cancel Fringe, but the ratings are horrible so it doesn't surprise me. All we want though is a good and final conclusion if they DO cancel!

It would be a real shame to lose Fringe, but I hope Jeff Pinkner is right about the season finale if it does end up being cancelled. That would at least be a silver lining. Even so though, they still should make the call at a time when they could make a true series finale like NBC allowed the people to do with Chuck.

Maybe they wouldn't lose so much money on it if they didn't totally destroy any chance of it being successful after the first season by moving it into horrible time slots. Just a thought, but this is Fox we are talking about here, so...

I'm actually glad they're thinking of cancelling House and Fringe. As much as I love both those shows, the longer they run, the more likely they run out of ideas and start stretching out plots. It's already happening with House. The best shows are short lived. The moment i saw Allen Gregory i knew it was destined to fail. it's time for the next best thing.

Showtime renews 'Shameless', 'House of Lies', & 'Califonication'
Quote:
After a strong start to the current season, Showtime has given an early renewal to its entire Sunday lineup of Shameless, House Of Lies and Californication. With the pickup of dark comedy House Of Lies, both of Showtime’s freshman series greenlighted by entertainment president David Nevins are going into a second season, along with drama hit Homeland. Shameless has been picked up for a third season, while Californication was renewed for a sixth. “These three shows are clearly resonating with audiences as evidenced by their steady growth on Sunday nights,” Nevins said. “We are extremely pleased with the creative work being done by the casts, producers and writers – and I so appreciate that each of these series has such a clear and distinctive voice.”

Glad to see Shameless getting renewed again. I plan on picking up the first season when it drops in price and start watching the show. It makes it that much better knowing that it will be going at least for a few years or more.

Correct. I want to watch that, but I don't get Showtime. It has a production company I've never heard of, so a Blu-ray release would obviously be up in the air.

FX renews 'Sons of Anarchy' thru 6th season
Quote:
FX ratings juggernaut Sons of Anarchy is coming back for at least two more seasons.

The renewal news comes as its creator and showrunner Kurt Sutter has inked a three-year overall deal with Twentieth Century Fox TV and FX Productions, which jointly produce the highest-rated series in FX history. As part of the pact, Sons has been officially renewed through season six, though those involved with the show assume a seventh and likely final season will be part of Sutter’s plan. What’s more, the deal allows the often outspoken showrunner to develop fare for both broadcast and cable, and includes a script deal with FX, where the former Shield writer is now the longest-tenured scribe.

Among the advantages, the pact gives Sutter the wherewithal to map out the series’ future on his own terms, rather than at the whim of Nielsen ratings. It’s a strategy that allowed past FX showrunners from The Shield’s Shawn Ryan to Rescue Me’s Peter Tolan and Denis Leary to present a coherent show from beginning to end, noted FX Network president John Landgraf, and the intention is that that level of certainty will be helpful creatively for Sutter as well.

“There’s a part of me that does see being able to tell this story in seven seasons, but there’s a part of me that doesn’t want to say, ‘That’s it,' Sutter told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview Friday, noting that he’s aware of FX’s model and the idea that after seven seasons the overhead and above-the-line costs begin to exceed the profit value of a show. "I almost feel like when you hang that kind of finality and put a period on something, there’s almost a backlash that happens with the fan base."

He continued, “If there’s more story to be told after seven seasons and if financially it’s still a feasible endeavor, I’m definitely open to doing more.”

Syfy renews U.S. version of 'Being Human' for 3rd season
Quote:
Syfy wants more werewolves, ghosts and vampires.

Supernatural drama Being Human has been renewed for a third season, the cable network announced Wednesday.

Coming less than three weeks after its sophomore season bow posted a 27 percent gain in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic, the Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath and Sam Huntington series has been picked up for 13 additional episodes.

The Jan. 16 Season 2 premiere also posted gains of 15 percent in total viewers and 35 percent in the adults 25-54 demographic, with the episode delivering 2.4 million total viewers and ranking as the second-most-watched episode of any season for the network and up 3 percent compared with the series premiere.

“With the success of Season 2, Being Human has become a premier destination forSyfyviewers,” Syfy president of original content Mark Stern said in a statement announcing the news. “[Executive producers] Jeremy Carver and Anna Fricke have taken this series to new heights this year and we’re excited to see where the third season will go.”

FX renews 'Archer' for 4th season
Quote:
Archer is sticking around on FX.

The network announced Thursday that the animated spy comedy has been picked up for a fourth season, as its current run continues to build in the ratings.

“It was an easy decision to order more Archer,” said Grad. “Adam, Matt, and our amazing voice cast are delivering one of the funniest and smartest shows on television. It has deservedly grown beyond its initial cult following to become both a critical and ratings success. It is a true asset to the FX comedy roster.”

Their deal will have them on-board for future seasons of Archer, should it be renewed again, in addition to new projects that might develop. It is only the second deal of its kind for FXP.

Fox cancels 'Terra Nova'
Quote:
There will be no second season of pre-historic drama Terra Nova on Fox. The network’s brass just made the decision after weeks of exploring potential Season 2 tweaks to the series set 85 million years in the past. Fox had to make the decision early so the show could make a fall return if renewed. Despite its pedigree, produced by Steven Spielberg and Peter Chernin, Terra Nova did not become a runaway hit, but its decent ratings, coupled with strong international sales for sibling 20th Century Fox TV, which produces the series, were keeping renewal hopes alive. 20th TV now plans to shop Terra Nova to other networks.

FX renews 'Justified' for 4th season
Quote:
FX has renewed critical darling Justified for a fourth season.

The network said Tuesday that it has picked up the Timothy Olyphant drama for 13 episodes.

More than halfway through its third season, the series is averaging 4.3 million viewers -- up 8 percent year-over-year -- and 2.1 million in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic (also up 8 percent vs. Season 2). When factoring in replays, the third season is averaging 7 million total viewers and 3.4 in the all-important demo.

“Justified is one of television’s best series, and this season has reinforced that excellence,” FX exec vp original programming Nick Grad said in announcing the pickup. “Graham Yost and his writing team continue to deliver compelling material and richly drawn characters brought to life by the brilliance of Timothy Olyphant and our terrific ensemble cast. Their work is validated by universal acclaim, awards and ratings that have grown every year. We look forward to many more seasons to come.”

The series joins a roster of original programming at the male-skewing cable network that includes dramas Sons of Anarchy and American Horror Story.

Justified, co-starring Walton Goggins, Nick Searcy, Jacob Pitts, Erica Tazel, Joelle Carter and Natalie Zea, will air its third-season finale April 10. Yost developed the series, based on the book by Elmore Leonard, for FX.

No matter what is going on at NBC, they will never resurrect a Fox castoff. Best bet for this is Netflix and it's such an expensive (and underwhelming) show, I doubt it'll happen.

(CSI: NY resumes its season on Friday, March 30, while Gifted Man has already aired its finale.)

As for Two and a Half Men, CBS and Warner Bros. Television are in preliminary negotiations regarding ordering more seasons. As Chuck Lorre said earlier this week, “It’s unusual when they cancel a show that’s in the Top 10, so I think there’s hope… [but] everybody’s gotta sign back up” — namely, Ashton Kutcher.
