Yes, I'm very OCD about certain things, especially adjusting and tuning my drums, and adjusting and tuning my A/V setup. If I were to move one thing in the room, I would feel compelled to rerun Audyssey.

Yes, I still don't even know all of the features on this thing, so I'm sure I'll be experimenting with all of the different options, and running Audyssey again, and again, and again.

What do you guys think of my post-analysis post up there? It almost sounds like I know what I'm talking about, doesn't it? I forgot to mention that I have Dynamic EQ turned on, and Dynamic Volume turned off for now.

The only thing I've listened to is the calibration chirps. I have yet to listen to any music or movies at all! I have been going nonstop all day, so I need a shower, then I'm going to fix something to eat, and enjoy my dinner while checking out some Blu-ray movies and concerts, and probably some of my higher quality CD's in 2ch direct. I'll report back in here in a little while.

Thanks again for all of the assistance and help, all of you guys!
(I'm sure I'll need more.)

Having the speakers crossovers at 40hz is almost like running full band so your bass will most likely sound very weak. Raise them too around 60-80hz too let your subs do some of the work.

Also normally the lpf of lfe on the avr is at 80hz-120hz.

Remember too correct the one of your subs that you had lowered the crossover so that both the subwoofers are at disabled or crossover at the maximum.

The site's all messed up! They picked a hell of a time to do maintenance, right when I need help.

Your LPF on the LFE should always be set to 120hz. If you set it any lower, the information gets thrown away. The dedicated .1 information goes up to 120hz.

I'll definitely raise my front crossovers to at least 60hz if not 80hz. I set my subs crossover wide open a long time ago. I just played around with it for a couple of days.

I have had some major problems, but I think I've figured it out. If I use HDMI Main output, I have to disable 24p on my BD player, or I get no picture. If I switch to HDMI Sub output, I can use 24p, but no OSD. Apparently several people with an Epson 6500ub paired with an Onkyo809 have the same problem:

http://onkyoproductsupport.forumotio...z-output-issue

The weird thing is that when this happens, there is no picture at all. I can't even pull up my PJ menu. Hell, I can pull up the PJ menu with nothing even plugged into it. That's really odd.

I checked, and my BD player is updated, and as far as I can tell, my Epson PJ is updated, but my Onkyo is not. There have been several firmware updates within the last few months, including several that improve A/V output through HDMI and one that improves picture output of 1080p/24 sources, which is my main problem:

http://www.intl.onkyo.com/support/fi.../tx-nr809.html

I've downloaded the update, but I have to buy a USB memory stick in order to update it. I'll do that tomorrow. Hopefully that will fix the problem.

I spent six hours straight trying all different kinds of configurations before finding that first link. At least I'm much, much more familiar with this receiver's options and menus now. Oh well, I'll get back at it tomorrow. Maybe I'll actually get to watch something.

Ribbit !!! Good Buddy

I see you're jumping into calibrating your AVR with a vengeance. I hope you get it squared away shortly, so you can finally sit back and enjoy your purchase.

And I thought automatic room correction was supposed to be easy

For me at least 24p looks the best. I hope you get it all sorted out Joe.

Thanks for the daily Ribbit!

The Audyssey wasn't the problem. For some reason, my BD player, receiver and projector aren't working together. If I use HDMI output 1 to the pj, I can't use 24p from my BD player. I get no picture, but sound. If I turn off 24p in my BD player, it works fine. I can use HDMI output 2 to the pj, and 24p works fine, but output 2 doesn't show the Onkyo OSD(it's not supposed to).

Thank you Aero.

Yes, it's much bigger and heavier than I expected. Now if I can just get it to work!

Thanks Tommy.

I prefer 24p too. My brain was spinning last night after about 6~7 hours of troubleshooting. I was planning to go buy a USB memory stick today, so I could update the firmware on my receiver, because it's way out of date. I think it may have the original factory firmware. When I woke up today, the first thing I thought of was that my cellphone has a 1G memory card in it, plus I have a USB cable so I can hook it to my computer. All I need for the update is 32MB, so I just loaded the update from my pc to my phone, plugged that into the receiver, and it's updating right now. Hopefully that will fix my problem, because several of the updates are for video playback improvements and one is specifically for 24p playback(my main problem).

Well, it took almost an hour to update, but after it finished, I tried out several different BDs with my player outputting 24p, and it worked flawlessly!

Last night, I was angrily and sadly checking out accessories4less' return policies, and also looking at BD players with two HDMI outputs to try to fix this. I was in a bad spot.

Fortunately all is well now, but unfortunately I have to go run some errands and pay some bills.

After that, it's party time!

Glad you figured it out & all is well dude!! I'm sure you'll enjoy the Hell out of it!!

In other news...

Early guess-timate for this Friday's upcoming MEGAMILLIONS drawing are at $476 MILLION, since Nobody hit the Jackpot last night ($363M). Good Lord...

"After taxes",
[Show spoiler](roughly 58% off the top)
, that's about $200 MILLION "Take Home" folks...!!!!

(Remember - the $476M early estimate will more than likely go up a bit, maybe not quite at the 1/2 BILLION Threshold, but close enough!!)

What????

This sounds like you misunderstood something.

Your sub crossover highest mark should be the same as your speakers lowest mark. If your speakers lowest is 80hz, then your sub should be turn up to 80hz.

If you have all your speakers set to 120hz as the lowest, then turn your sub upto 120hz.

You haven’t mentioned it, but I just want to make sure you understand another point with messing with audyessy. You mentioned turning your speaker hz up from a lower number, which is fine, Just do not turn any of them down further then what audyessy set them.

Oh, and by the way, your not going to learn everything about that receiver over night. It's going to take some time to perfect it.

Oh. I didn't know that. I guess i'll have too correct this myself. I've always read that for starters the speaker crossovers are good at 80hz and then 120hz for the subs.

But i trust you more mate hehe.

Are all of you speakers the same Hz? Such as the 80hz? You didn't lower any of them to 80hz?

Yes. After calibration all are at 40hz. Then i raise them all too 80hz. The subs crossover is at default at 120hz and i usually just keep it there.

Umm, it's really important to know, after you ran audyessy, that you did not lower the HZ on any of the surround(or fronts). That's truly not a good idea, if so, you will have audio holes. Raising them is ok, but lowering them is wrong.

When I want mine surrounds lowered, I have to re-run audyessy, and might have mic placed in a different spot.

****EDIT****

I just re-read and you did mention, 'Never over that'... Sorry my bad.

No i never lower my crossover.

"Never over that" was referring too the measured/recommend audessey settings.. I always tweak these a little by raising them after ex. 40hz->80hz.

But my big revelation were that the speakers and sub should match the way you mentioned. How do you know this? Is it by personal experience or did you read it somewere?
