FOX's "American Idol" (Season 16)

Wow tonight was pretty dope. The talent this year is pretty high and singers are showing what they can do. Its gonna be very tough in about a week or 2 real talk. Here are my rankings for tonight's performance's only and my bottom 3:

I hope I am wrong about the bottom 3 because people should vote for overall performances and not just that week but thats how I see it. I liked Elise's performance more than the judges. Hollie is a goner and she did look very good tonight during both performances. The best duo was Phillip & Elise hands down. Also it will not be Joshua & Jessica in the finals. Maybe one of them but not both and not sure about one of them for that matter. The save could possibly be used for the first time tomorrow if Hollie sings her butt off. Got Em!!

Hey man, I love your passion for your peps and they did have a good performance in their duo but Phillip and Elise were out performed tonight by Joshua and Jessica. I know the style may not be everyones cup of tea but J&J, IMO, was just way better. And hey, you know I've been a fan of both Phillip and Elise since it all started. As for the final 2, if Jessica and Joshua continue to perform the way they did tonight, I don't know man, they may be it. Just my own opinion...and you know I'm pulling for DeAndre but he can't touch them with performances like they had tonight.

Yea they were good but I would take Phillip & Elise over them anyday. I just dont see Joshua garnering enough votes or fan support to make the finals but well see. I can pretty much guarantee atleast Phillip or Colton will make the finale in my eyes if not both.

On a side note where is victim at? I know his girl is just about gone but damn dont disappear on us man. Haha. Got Em!!

Well yeah, he has stayed away. I'm sure he'll show up if/when DeAndre gets eliminated.

First off, yay for Gwen! Really like her music.

As for the contestants, They were all pretty good and I even gave Deandre more of a chance last night instead of skipping 2 seconds in. He still did too much of that falsetto or whatever its called that really bothers me. Makes him sound like a girl. Which is probably why I was thinking he might be gay but after last nights episode I doubt he is.

Not going to try and put the performances in any kind of order and America will undoubtedly get the voting all wrong anyway so my wishes of Joshua and Deandre being in the bottom three is highly unlikely. Just know after the lashing Hollie got from the judges, I had to send in votes for her. She deserves to stick around atleast a few more weeks.

Let me ask u, do u know these songs that Deandre are singing? Like last night he sung "I Like It" by El Debarge. Have u heard the original? El Debarge sings it mostly in falsetto. Actually Deandre sung parts of the song in his regualr voice which is why the judges gave him props. The point being that sung is sung in falsetto but Deandre actually switched it up and only sang parts in falsetto. Anyway yea its really hard to rank them in order because most will probably put their favorites very high regardless. Ill stick with guessing the bottom 3 though. Looks like Ill get my wish for Hollie to go home this week unless she is saved. Joshua aint goin nowhere this week and Deandre shouldnt either. Also no way does Hollie deserve to be around a "few" more weeks. She has been mediocre goin on 3 str8 weeks which is pretty bad. She is lucky to still be in it now. Got Em!!

No, Czar, I've never heard of El Debarge but even so, I do not like high pitched male singers. One of the reasons I don't really care for Rush or AC/DC too much, or many of the bands of the 70s/80s that liked to scream like girls. Great bands and they have great songs but I can't stand listening to their singers for very long. Would of been awesome had someone sang a song by Metallica. Obviously one of their slower songs where James isn't growling/yelling into the mic the whole song... or better yet, switch up one of those songs to actually singing it. There was a lot of great music from the 80s and the contestants didn't pick any song I cared for.

As for Hollie, even given her mediocre performances the past few weeks she is still far better than Deandre and Joshua to me. I know many do not agree with me but I'm still holding out hope she sticks around a little longer.

Really impressed with the contestants this season, even more so with the teens, especially Jessica. She's definitely the frontrunner to get to the finals. I was not a fan of Deandre during Hollywood week but I'm really impressed the last couple of weeks. Last week's comment by Steve Tyler about Deandre giving Prince a run for his money was spot on. And last night's performance with a mix of his falsetto and normal voice was even better. if he develops more confidence in himself-- which was better last night-- he can be a dark horse in this competition. Joshua (I didn't know he's only 19-- he looks older) sang the best last night, imo, and best song choice.

Elise and Phillip are the more experienced performers in this competition, and it shows, and give them the advantage while Colton, definitely has the teen vote and knows how to milk it. Liked his song choice and his version.

Yea I wished Elise wouldve chosen another rock song because she killed it last week. But yea man El Debarge sings pretty much in falsetto the whole time. So man u dont like the Bee Gees or the Stylistics? Not sure what kind of music u like but man those old school groups are great to me with those high voices. And wow did u say Hollie is better than Joshua? Even though Joshua isnt my favorite but he is moons better than Hollie and so is Deandre. I just thought the Joshua comparison was easy though. That dude has range for days. Also loved all of the song choices except for Jessica & Hollie's choice. 6 out of 8 aint bad though. Got Em!!

Agreed with most of that. I still think Phillip is the one to beat though. The competition this year may be better than last year and I didnt think that just a few weeks ago. Got Em!!

My musical preference tends to stay around Rock and all that encompasses from Pop-Rock to Heavy Metal. Not so much Soft Rock however. The past year or two I've been really into female fronted metal bands like Amberian Dawn, Delain, Epica - now those women can sing. Would give anything to hear Jessica, Elise or Hollie attempt one of their songs which would really prove if they have the range people think they have.

I have a feeling Hollie will be going home this week and that is a shame because I like her. I would rather see Deandre go.

I liked Phillip during Hollywood week (especially his bromance with Heejun) and one of my favorites but he has grown stale to me the last couple of weeks with that face he makes while singing. He overdoes it sometimes. Not fond of his song choice last night but loved his duet with Elise. I remember Steve Tyler's comment a couple of weeks ago-- "I still think there's someone trying to crawl out of you" (something to that effect). I'm keeping my eye on Jessica, Deandre and Colton in this competition-- fresh talent. Joshua, if he can tone down his James Brown impression and keep his emotions in check (which was Jacob's undoing last year) can also go a long way.

I agree, Hollie was the weakest last night and may be going home. Deandre, who I still feel may be a dark horse in this competition, will be safe.

I have to admit Skylar was very good last night, although I strongly dislike her. And from the beginning, I haven't understood the love for Phillip. Last night, he was horribly off-key at times.

Colton and Joshua were very good. I like Hollie, but I think she was distracted by having to hit her marks.

I would like to see Elise go home. Do not like her or her voice. (I also find Jessica's vocal tone unpleasant, though she seems sweet.)

Colton Dixon One of my favorite guys this season. He can sing and can rock! I look for him to make it far.
Deandre Brackensick Eh, he is OK. There are much better singers than him.
Elise Testone I'm not real big on raspy singers, but Elise is kinda cool. Not my favorite, though.
Hollie Cavanagh This girl can sing her ass off and it will be a shame if she goes home this week!
Jessica Sanchez LOVE her!!!!! I love her vocal range and she's a very cute girl. She is the best singer in the whole competition, IMO. I hope she makes it to the finale.
Joshua Ledet Joshua is hands down my favorite guy this season! This guy is pure brilliance! I can see him in the finale with Jessica.
Phillip Phillips Way overrated, IMO! He seems to yell his songs instead of actually sing them. Why they put this guy through makes no sense to me.
Skylar Laine I'm a fan of country music and I absolutely love Skylar! She is the 2nd best female singer this season, IMO.

I know people are going to disagree with me about this, but I honestly don't care. These are MY opinions!

Well Jessica & Elise do have great range and Elise proved singing Led Zeppelin and Jessica proved it singing Whitney & Beyonce. Hollie's range is limited in my opinion. Got Em!!

I am a fan of Phillip but last night he did kinda over do it about on his vocals after thinking about it but I still thought he did fine but far from his best. Agree totally about Joshua and why Jacob folded last year. Got Em!!

No. In the beginning I do think AI was much more about the talent. It simply is not the case anymore. How many years in a row now has the predictable heart throb won? Five? Oh and the gray haired guy that won... it was part teen girls and part old ladies. I live where he is from and yeah.... he had a huge army of people calling and texting votes for the entire time they were allowed to.

You can't possibly believe that the average watcher who actually only votes once, isn't completely drowned out by the kids that are willing and able to waste their entire evening texting and calling non stop until the voting closes.

Man we can go on and on about the voting system and none of us know the exacts so why bother. It is what it is really. But I can tell u that Lee Dewyze is no heart throb. Dude looks like a country car mechanic haha and he won. Actually Casey James was the heart throb that year and he didnt win so Im not so sure. Got Em!!
