I'm not really getting a Willis vibe from JGL in those pics. Anyone do comparisons yet? In the 2nd pic he looks like Ryan Gosling with dark hair.

Thumbs up Movies.com & FSR.com

After reading some info, or rumors about this movie, I became really psyched about sharing what I found.... according to Movies.com & Filmschoolrejects.com

Source : Movies.com by Eric Davis

Quote:
Hot on the heels of the first footage for Looper premiering at WonderCon over the weekend come these images of Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the film's star, a time-traveling hitman (or "looper"). Due in theaters September 28th, Looper takes place in a near future where time travel exists, except it's illegal and used only on the black market. That's where the mob comes in -- they send victims back in time and hire hitmen (or "loopers") to finish the job in the past so there's no cleaning up to do in the present.

Things become complicated, however, when the mob sends back Bruce Willis to kill Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It's complicated because Willis is Gordon-Levitt's older self. In these images you can see how they changed Gordon-Levitt's face a bit by adding prosthetics that make him look a little more like Bruce Willis. Rian Johnson (Brick, The Brothers Bloom) directed, with Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Noah Segan, Piper Perabo and Jeff Daniels also lending their talent to what looks (on paper, at least) like a very fun, inventive sci-fi thriller.

Quote:
Fans in attendance who braved the Ballroom Line were treated to the first footage anyone anywhere has seen of Rian Johnson‘s (Brick) newest film, Looper. Up ’til now, all we’ve really heard about the project is that it’s a movie that somehow blends time-travel and assassins. How could it go wrong?

While I’m sure there are millions of ways for that idea to go wrong, what we witnessed seems to suggest that none of those things actually went wrong. I’ll break down the footage for you, and it could be considered kind of spoilery I guess, though the teaser trailer will be online in a few weeks.

We’ve also got pictures of Joseph Gordon-Levitt as he appears in Looper!

Looper is set in the future two-fold. Joseph Gordon-Levitt lives one time period, one where time travel has yet to be invented. However, 30 years in the future, the mafia uses time travel to send people back in time to be assassinated. In the trailer we see JGL standing at the ready with a shotgun in front of a blanket laid down in an empty field. Suddenly, a bound and hooded figure appears, and is promptly blasted and killed. JGL collects his payment via gold attached to the body.

We see a little bit of both time periods – in JGL’s time, things have a kind of 50s swinger vibe, so maybe in the near future that style of dress comes back. In the future-proper, there are hover motorcycles, high rises, plenty of neon-lights, all very Blade Runner-esque.

JGL narrates the trailer, telling us that a Looper is a hitman in the past who kills and disposes of the bodies. There is only one rule – you never let the target get away. Even if the target is yourself.

And clearly, that’s what happens. Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt actually both play Joe – one younger and one older. In the trailer we see Joe come face to face with his future self when the hood falls off, revealing Willis. Older Joe, knowing what’s coming, quickly spins around. Young Joe, after a moment’s hesitation, takes the shot, but Older Joe is saved by the gold bars (payment) strapped to his body. He escapes.

Now younger Joe is trapped in a tough spot – people are out to kill him unless he kills himself. MINDWARP.

I'll keep my hopes at bay for a while, but I think this might be the first trailer in a while to impress me where many others have failed

At least this one had a bit of an edge, not just being 10 seconds of footage that's in the trailer

They already do.
Hopefully it's better than the last September scifi flick starring Willis.

Ugh cocktease.

I've been waiting for what feels like years for this film. Johnson is a director with a bright future ahead of him.

Yeah, it has felt like forever. I've also been waiting ages for Neil Blomkamp's Elysium, and then District 10.

We really need to be seeing something of that one, next March is way too long for that one to come out

District 9 was the best film of 2009 but the more time passes, I don't feel there's a need for a sequel. There's nowhere else the story needs to go.

I'm with all three of you. The wait for both this and Elysium has been way too long! Give us trailers, or just be out already! The wait is killing me. Blomkamp and Johnson are two of my favorite working directors in Hollywood right now, and the wait between each of their movies is exhausting. Hurry up!

After Brick and The Brothers Bloom, I'm convinced Johnson would make the best Bond film if Wilson and Broccoli would allow him some free reign.

And Criterion needs to pick up Brick. Just sayin'.
