Default Person of Interest: The Complete First Season - September 4, 2012

Quote:
Warner Home Entertainment will bring Person of Interest: The Complete First Season to Blu-ray in the fall. Created by filmmakers J.J. Abrams (Super 8) and Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight), this weekly procedural stars Jim Caviezel (The Thin Red Line) and Michael Emerson (Lost) as two outcasts working on society's fringes to stop violent crimes.

Warner's ten-disc Blu-ray/DVD/UltraViolet Digital Copy combo pack presents the program in its 1.78:1 broadcast ratio. The discs also have the following bonus supplements:

Commentary on original broadcast version of the pilot
Unaired, extended pilot episode with optional producer commentary
Living in an Age of Surveillance behind-the-scenes featurette
Gag reel

Person of Interest: The Complete First Season streets on September 4th.

A Blu-Ray/DVD combo for a TV show? No buy for me!
I'm okay for a movie, not for a TV show.

Why? You don't have to pay extra and you don't have to use them.

While I'm not exactly thrilled about Warner doing this for their shows (including HBO) either, it's not going to stop me from continuing to buy their shows also. It's more of an annoyance than anything else.

I might not use the DVDs but I'll use the digital copy. It definitely wouldn't stop me from buying a show because of something like that

I won't use either. I have yet to actually watch a single digital copy. That obviously doesn't matter though.

I did enjoyed the first season saw all the episodes. I don't think I will go for a buy on the Blu-ray however, I just can't really see watching this often enough to make the purchase worth it for me. Good show however.

Is this the first TV series to have a Blu/DVD combo pack?

Nope. True Blood Season 4 and the re-releases of seasons 1-3. Most of these WB shows are being released with only the UV digital copies, but POI, Vampire Diaries and Big Bang Theory so far are getting all three.

Not a bad deal, all things considered. My sister loves the show, but hasn't embraced the HD revolution yet, so going half with her on this would be cool.

The price is the same as an all Blu-Ray set?
I think $62 is a bit steep.
But if this is a normal price, so I apologize for my reaction

Most blu-rays, especially shows, start out high and lower closer to release day. It will not be $60+ and most likely not even $50. As I've said multiple times already, if True Blood, an HBO show, is $35 release day as a "combo pack", there's no way a WB release will be that high. So far Nikita is the only one that was above $50.

Even without the DVD or digital copy people think TV shows on BD (or even DVD) are too expensive (I completely disagree), it wouldn't make sense to add more that not too many people are interested in and start charging more. If anything it would make it worse.

This.

The Digital Copies will definitely come in handy while traveling. As with the DVDs, I'll just give them to my parents like I always do...

Warner Brothers TV-on-Blu release week prices are always between $39.xx - $44.xx. I see this being no different.

Hmm... I'm getting this no question, and a friend of mine who has Blu-ray, but is fine with DVD said she'd buy the DVD copies off me for $18. I'm going out of town the day before this comes out though, and I still wanted a chance to loan this to another friend. Wondering if I shouldn't just pick up 2 copies of the combo set. I do have a $25 Best Buy gift card.

Review has been posted...

Person of Interest: The Complete First Season Review

One problem I have with the review is the rant about the combo pack. There is no added cost. The MSRP is the same as other Warner shows released last year, and the release day price of $39.99 is actually less than what their shows of this length were going for last year. The only added cost is shelf space.

I respect the reviewer and appreciate the reviews, but I would actually ask for the rant to be edited since it is making Warner seem like they are doing the combo packs only to drive up the cost when there is no evidence of that.

+1 Great show, not convinced I'd ever be able to justify the blu ray, let alone DVD/Digital copies
