klipsch speakers question...

i plan on getting the
rf-52 fronts
rc-10 center

my question is are bookselves able to be used as surrounds like the rb - 51's that are cheaper than the surround speakser the rs- 42 that are rated at the same power, but keep in mind it is a 7.1 system so i would need 4 of the book selves or surrounds.

my queston is what would be better and im on a tight budget so for the little bit less money would the bookselves prove to be good enuf over the actual surround speakers they sell??

I havethe 51s as my fronts right now to update my old 5.1 to 7.1. I got those now because I knew I would move them to my rears once I got the bigger floor standing speakers as the fronts, and if I had doen the huge fronts first they would have been completely unbalanced with the rest of my setup.

So I guess the answer is yes, the 51s can be used as side or rear speakers.

Also, if you get the 51s from Best Buy, they did let me use the 12% off coupon to get mine. Saves a few more $$.

How do the 51's sound as far as music goes? I'm thinking of picking up a pair of these or the B-3's. Can't make up my mind.....

1. speaker placement. will you be able to get the rb-51s and properly place them in the room tho? check that option
2. always consider if they are quite compatible to each other. in this case i normally check the diameter of the speaker (5.25 in both the rf-52s and the rb-51s)

my choice?
if speaker placement allows, get the RB-51s... sonically matched, but a little bit of a challenge to move around compared to the surrounds...

if you cannot, then the rs-42s will do a good job too.

these are for surrounds am i correct? id rather invest heavily on my front stage instead of the surrounds IMO. id also rather get the RC-62 because of its specs as well. i HIGHLY suggest this... remember - the center channel is where most 'dialogue - for lack of a better word'...

- depends on what your setup would be for 'music'.
- are you listening to them 2 channel? 2.1? 5.1? i ask this because this is important as to how you plan to use it.
- i always prefer the RB-61s over the 51s due to its range as well as its speaker diameters. the RB-81's are great as well, but are a tad difficult to match with a center speaker.


- save up your money and invest in their reference series. the synergy line isnt the best out there.. the synergy line is their 'economy' line so to speak, and does not perform as well as the reference series.

the setup would be mainly movies and video games rarely do i play music with my ps3

and i have the onkyo 605 if that makes any difference in the pick?

I also have the Onkyo 605 and I have the Klipsch B-3s and they sound great. I also have a set of S-1s in the rear. It's only 5.1 but it all comes together nicely.

for the long run, id go with my first suggestion. RB-61's are my choice. FIVE of em if you can get em. use one for the center if you can afford it/if the dealer can give ONE unit to you....

if not, the RC-10 to match.

would the 100 dollars per pair in the price diffence really warrant the 61 over the 51 ?? plus its not a very large room i would guess 18 feet long maybe 25 foot wide??

Go for the RF82 up front and then build the rest around them. Ive sold klipsch for years and personally would not go with anything under the 82 series.

yea ill just put my car up for sale to buy them, being that im only 20 years old i think 900 in front speakers is a little much.. although you are right id love to have them but i need something for not to get rid of these shitty sony satellites.

Not sure what your budget is, but you might want to consider this setup for the front and center channel. For a room the size you mentioned, these should be all you need (along with a good sub).

Would the RC-35 center be OK to use with the RF-82's? This speaker looks nearly identical to the RC-62 - which I almost bought for $400 yesterday.

My personal opinion is that you should get the RS-42's. I say this because 1- I have them and LOVE the way they sound (you can check out my pics in the theater pics page 50 or 51 in this forum) & 2- they are dipole speakers so you'll get way more surround sound from every direction with these

not bad at all considering the budget range you have... this would probably be my second choice.

i dont really like the idea of the rs-42s, because they're dipoles. its a personal preference. as much as it can create a very good enveloping surround element, i still prefer my direct radiating surrounds and properly placing em.

they both have their advantages, and disadvantages, and depending on the owner, would work for them.

Hi Just saw your post..and read through it.1st the klipsch is the best choice..LOL I'm a big fan .Here's what I did this past year .I put together a new system , & if you shop around you can find some great price's heres what I put together...

room size - 18 ft long 14 ft wide

Front speakers - Klipsch RB- 51 paid $275.00 pair

Center speaker - Klipsch RB - 10 paid $180.00

Surrounds - Klipsch RS -10 paid $150.00 Pair

Sub - Klipsch RW -10 Paid $330.00

Total cost for the whole system new = $935.00 Plus tax.. So I put it altogether for $1000.00 I had to shop around between three shops but it paid off .So if you look hard you can do it. As for a ? on your Best buy Where I live Best Buy here only sells the Klipsch lower end ,,No Reference series..You have to go to a Hi Fi Shop

Now lets talk sound .You see the size of my room above , this little system rocks hard .I was blown away from the sound that came from the size of them.Mind you my old system was all Klipsch also ,I had KG 5.5 towers for Music and I had 5# KG 2.2 for my home theater setup with a KSW 15 in Sub.. this system rock HARD ..it was loud..and awsome I drove them with 5 # Marantz MA 500 Mono Blocks amps..So when I put the new set together I wanted the same puch but with a small space footprint and the reference seriers did the job . The RW 10 in sub is awsome I can't belive the power it produces . the whole house just shakes..LOL..

Any ways this is just one persons opin..not right or wrong .hope my info helps..good luck .

one thing to remember is that these speakers are investments. thats why you see a number of people who drop a lot of money into speakers, even at one piece at a time, to make sure that they dont have to do it again when its time to upgrade.

my 61's will be with me for quite some time, and the next set of speakers im getting are the in walls....

my rule of thumb? if you can afford it, buy the model one step higher than the one you originally wanted.

again, thats just my opinion.

yea see i like that idea lol its just such a commetment but im pretty set on getting the kilpsch floor standings i want the 52 but your right if at the time im ready to buy them i would end up going ahead and getting the 62's and live happily ever after until i move on to the surrounds lol

Since there's a Klipsch thread . . . would it be alright to use an RC52 center with the RF82 fronts? I really want to get the RC62 center, but I'm using an accommodation and for some reason they don't offer the RC62, just the RC52. I'm afraid it'll sound unbalanced.

the RC62 should work just fine, but id also go with the RC64s if
1. you can accomodate such a big center,
2. because with 8inch woofers for the fronts, your center might (just might) get lost a bit to 'anchor' your sound so to speak.

remember, i always recommend to get the model up when you shoot for a specific speaker.

although one thing i notice in the specs, is that it drops down to only 62hz, compared to the 57 that the 62 can do tho.

the only way you can find out if it would handle it is by testing it yourself. and no, BB is not your ideal place to audition speakers.

thats why i always recommend going to a HT dedicated store. thats why they have separate rooms to audition your snuff. i mean stuff.

you guys are teasing me to get upgrades...
