This giant project, this massively popular series, no matter how long ago it was, will always have been a huge chunk of their lives.
And if they didn't like it, some of them would have dropped out early, but they were all there almost each and every episode (if not all).
On top of that, they might be actors, but these actors have become good friends in real life.
That's not a cheesy fan-fantasy, these people have worked and lived together for at least a decade, and I think some even live near to each other.
In any case, I can tell with little doubt, that this was probably the best job each on of them ever had.
And I think they're the kind of people/actors who would be delighted to reunite, even if it was for a special about the series.
They would do it for the fact that they're friends of each other and that they can look back at 10 to 20 years ago, also for the fans.
Because I doubt they'd have like "Friends-conventions" of their own.

I agree that they've moved on to other stuff, but this would be a like a reunion and I'm sure they'd be happy to also do it for the fans.
I don't know if you've seen these people, but they're not the most hesitant and closed up "high profile" actors as you might think.
And really, it's not like some kind of special would need long terms of contracts and shooting.
It would be a get-together. I mean, just think the "Roundtable Reunion" that's included on the 'Firefly'-BD.
Maybe with a little more production and construction to it since it would probably be through Warner Studios, but you get the idea.

Now, that's not to say that I personally expect new stuff of today to be on this release. Just maybe...
But, in all honesty, (if it were my decision) I'd either wait, or at least (also) make a "20th Anniversary Edition" in 2 years from now.
And like I believe I've said before, they could a "Friends - 10/20 Years Later"-special of some kind.
You know, I wouldn't be surprised if someone like David Schwimmer would take the initiative.
He even took on the role of director for a bunch of episodes on this series and even helped out on 'Joey'.
The others, especially Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow, don't seem to mind to get their hands dirty in producing.

So I have a feeling there is something around the corner. If it's not on this BD-set, there probably will be some kind of special in 2014.
Even if it's for TV, like they would also do the whole series and other specials, and later it would come to home-video as an extra.
Unless they do want to go the "made exclusively for Blu-ray"-route, that's fine by me.
I can see where you're coming from, but quite often for shows like this there's always a feeling of reluctance on the part of the actors to take part in it any-more. I could be wrong and all 6 of the cast would love to contribute something else to the show, more likely for a 20th anniversary event in a couple of years, but for a set like this I'm not so sure.

I would be interesting if they did an one-off special for the 20th anniversary, showing what happened 10 years after they split.

Well, maybe they just didn't want to spend the $$$ to do HD remasters of the extended DVD versions as well, since they already did ones for the broadcast versions.

Unfortunately if this release is not the extended ones, then that might very well be right and the extended episodes might never get a release on blu-ray..

I'm sure this could easily pop up on Amazon UKs Black friday deal a hell of a lot cheaper than £110.

Either way I'm waiting this one out. Way too many other releases due this year to justify £110 on a series.

The same time as the US. Last week of November. Amazon usually has a week long Black Friday sale.

I've sent an e-mail to WB US in regard to the big packaging.

Just to note that the UK doesn't actually have any kind of holiday, it's just something the UK retail industry has copied from the US.

I know what you mean, but I think that's because more often than not it's more "work" and "business".
In which case they were either not happy in the working on whatever it was or they were just there to do their thing and get out again.

This, however, was one of those golden combinations with everyone in the right place at the right time.
I'm sure it's the same for 'Firefly' and other great works that have a lot of fans. And the same happens in music and bands.

You mean as in really another episode?
Yeah, I've had some ideas about that some years ago when I first watched the whole thing. Which I think could've worked.
Actually, I thought more of it as a movie, which all the speculation on 'Friends' was about, whether or not there would be a movie any time soon.
Which I personally think could be done in one or two ways.

Also, I think if they'd do a one-off special (episode), it would most likely be longer, like 40 to 60 minutes, to make it worth while.
So kind of like a double episode. Then again, they might as well move it into a feature-film so Warner would think it's even more worth while$.

I would love to see anything new as well though. Really as in a continuation.
They should simply do a reunion-story and seeing them get into more shenanigans.
Well, I had this whole idea of what would happen anyway, a bit too much to type out.
For example, a thing that, to my disappointment, didn't happen in 'Joey' (which I think was alright), was that Chandler (and Monica) would visit.
Or anyone else for that matter... But the rough idea I had was for Chandler (and Monica) to give Joey a surprise-visit, or something like that.
And then later they'd meet up with the rest somewhere.
But yeah...

Ha! They do both the casual and fancy thing for the image! ^
Also kind of "old and new" or "then and now".

I want it...

The feeling I get is they would rather talk about current stuff, because they've moved on from the show that launched their career.

The only one who may do something is Matt Le Blanc, because he hasn't done a lot since, so maybe more open to it. But Jennifer Aniston certainly wouldn't do anything, because she's gone onto big things.

It's always a shame when actors won't participate in retrospective extras.
I can see Lisa Kudrow doing something, maybe introductions for certain special features.. she is the one who hasn't really been that successful compared to the others.

That's more like it! This is way better than the other design. What's the chances of getting this one in the UK?
