And FTR, although TT's principles (Nick Redman and Brian Jamieson) are well regarded for their veteran work on movie soundtracks for studios like Fox, the Twilight Time label has never sold CD soundtracks, only DVDs (briefly) and now Blu-rays (exclusively). Most of this is clarified in KQEK's candid and insightful interview with Nick Redman. |

I don't know that I would assume Sony's licensing decision for AGAIG was the right one based on Twilight Times's sales numbers. The limited availability and high pricepoints for these releases virtually eliminates casual purchases. All you can really say is that AGAIG doesn't have the niche appeal that some of their other titles, such as The Wayward Bus, have. I'd venture a guess that, given more typical distribution channels, AGAIG would be outselling The Wayward Bus, and by a fairly large margin. |

To equate the NOLD remake with Fright Night seems pretty oblivious to me. NOLD-r is a good movie but it lacks the cult following of FN. I think there is general enthusiasm to see a horror release combined with this audience coiled to react with any Twilight Time announcement; those elements might not equate to sales. As much as I'd like the blu release to be a success that paves the way for future main stream horror releases I hope vulture profiteers choke on extra copies.
I first saw NOLD-r on Joe Bob Briggs' Monstervision, that was a great show and his intersections would make an epic extra, it's not going to happen but if we're goin to dream about extras... Untrue. The NOLD remake changes at least one pivotal scene. Rumor has it that Tom Savini later applogized to George Romero about the change. Other differences may be subtle but like you say characterization is also different. Accordig to imdb NOLD-r makes "multiple references to Dawn of the Dead." The ending and atmosphere of the original are better...most of the acting is better in the remake, and Barbara is more than just a piece of furniture. Both are good. Ultimately, I give the edge to the original for that dark ending. But I've always liked the remake. |

This is one of those rare occasions where the remake outdoes the original imo.
The Hills have Eyes, Night of the Living Dead, Last House on the Left. |

I will be eagerly getting this title as soon as the pre-order goes up. Lately I've missed out on two collector's items by underestimating the demand of said item (Fright Night, and the Friday the 13th, Parts 1-6, Limited Edition CD set), but I will be prepared this time. I'm not thrilled with the lack of extras, but I understand Twilight Time's business model and will be supporting the titles I'm interested in. This film is one of the better remakes and is classic in its own right, a must have for a horror nut like me.
