Maybe we need to start a group funding website to get Nissen to do customs for the Bond set!!

you can blame MGM that have never done a cover design for the bond series on vhs/dvd or blu-ray that they have used the greatest artwork made.

So that is why we have tried to create the ultimate bond cover design.

and I am extremely happy with the result.

The only time I remember original artwork used was the VHS releases from 1987 which had 25th anniversary stickers on. They had a kind of silvery/blue border but the original artwork within the border. These were UK releases btw.

I quite liked the artwork used on the very first US DVD releases, they were about the best.

The worst was a few years ago for either Living Daylights or Licenece to Kill - god knows what they did to Daltons mouth but he looked like a duck!!!!

Anyway, enjoy your Nissen covers - he really has done a great job. But the pressures gonna be on when I commission him for some, what's he gonna come up with then

EDIT: this is one of the covers
http://illustrated007.blogspot.co.uk...r-artwork.html

Less image of the poster than I recalled but still better than any recent effort.

My Criterion covers are on a new website. My signature has the new site. Some were complaining that they couldn't save them on my Flickr account. Plus, my Flickr account storage was maxed out. They are now on Picasa. Only Criterion sizes, no regular Blu ray sizes. We will see how it goes.

If anyone wants a certain movie in Criterion style, let me know and I will make it for a small fee.

Thanks!

Just wondering if anyone is going to do individual covers for the Universal Monsters collection?

I love the customs that Nissen is putting together. He and alphadec have really done a great job on these 007 covers.

I remember the 1987 releases but I thought they had a silver gunbarrel with only portions of the poster art showing through them. I recall that the James Bond International Fan Club ran a contest and the prize was all 14 of the then available Eon 007 movies. The JBIFC used the covers to create a border on the page.

I didn't like the artwork used on the first US DVD releases. I just don't understand why MGM pays people to produce Photoshop jobs for a series which has some of the best theatrical posters ever produced.

Keep up the good work Nissen and Alphadec

Hmmm, yes you're right - i did think there was silver involved. It is 25 years ago though

Here's my latest from Nissen.
I love the retro style that he did for his own West Side Story and the Willy Wonka i commissioned. So i wanted to replace the God-awful cover for Grease that is so colourful and bold it has no character to it, with a similar retro style.

I'm thrilled with the result - takes me right back to 1978 sat in the Rex cinema wondering if it was wrong for a 5 year old boy to love Grease hahahahaha!!!!

25 Years is a Silver Anniversary after all.

Here is the "Thunderball" VHS cover from 1987:

Ah yes, that's the ones I meant in my original post. I loved those covers, I asked in WH Smith (UK store) for any spare covers and they gave me about 3 of each. I cut them up and made a geeky Bond collage.

Thanks for the find

Again, these are paid commissions I am not at liberty to share. Sorry.
I have to be honest. About the only thing that could make that any better would be to have the amazing Tom Jones' voice sing the theme song every single time I open the case.

Bravo!

Well, actually, the client is considering sharing these freely once they're done. Good Karma, he says. You'll all be the first to know.
