Problem with Optical Cable

I have a fiber optical cable plugged into my PS3 running from my surround receiver. I recently moved my room around and was trying to unplug the optical cable from the PS3 but it seemed like it was stuck. I kept pulling it and the cap on the very end of the cable stuck into my ps3 but the rest of the wire came out. Now I am able to put everything back together and it seems to work fine, but i cannot get that cap out of the PS3!!

Is there a special way to plug these cables in or something? I know they are spring loaded but nothing i tried seemed to work. Anybody else have this problem??

Optical cables are very fragile and can be easily damaged. If tweezers don't work, use a needle or a pin and a flashlight. Be very careful not to damage the optical output of the PS3.
