I couldn't find a thread on this subject so please forgive me if this is posted elsewhere.
I read several reports that NBC (in a joint venture with Panasonic) will broadcast the 2012 London Olympic games in 3D. I cannot find info on how I can view the 3D signal in my area. I have Cablevision service on Long Island (New York). Will it be automatically broadcast on NBC-TV or will the 3D signal be on an NBC affiliated channel? Any info is much appreciated. ![]() |

Time Warner Cable in South Carolina is showing it as sourced from NBC-U (Galaxy 17 Transponder 11) and will begin on July 25th on their special events 3D channel 1333. I can only hope they will be offering you the same access on your cablevision service on channel 1300 in New York.

TWC, Verizon FIos have added, Cablevision says coming soon. "NBC is offering 3D coverage of various Summer Olympic events from London including water polo, basketball, diving, and more, on a next day delayed schedule. The offering includes English-language commentary. Customers subscribing to Broadcast Basic or above with an HD Digital Cable box, a 3D TV, and 3D TV manufacturer-approved 3D glasses will be able to tune to Channel 1300 and view the 2012 Olympics in 3D." |

Thanks everyone. I will tune into channel 1300 on Cablevision when the Olympics start. I have a passive LG 3D screen so I am all set for the games.

And even if I could, I don't have the HD Premium box, and only have my local-channel cable plugged directly into my set's built-in QAM, and can't get PPV. Otherwise, I'd be jumping on this in a second (despite being only a casual Summer-Olympics fan and ignoring the Winter entirely), just to support the cause of live-3D broadcast in the US. I mean, even if just to watch regular things in 3-D like track, and swimming, and diving, and girls' gymnastics.... .... ![]() ....Okay, that does it, is Comcast offering the service? ![]() ![]() |

In the UK, we will have both the opening and closing ceremony in 3D on BBC HD, The men's 100m final live and Nightly highlights in 3D (as a public broadcaster its restricted by band width to what can be show terrestrial as opposed to cable and satellite. Eurosport a subscription channel will show live 3D.
We have already had BBC showing the wimbledon finals in 3D, we have the proms coming up and after teh olympics some films. http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/lat...mer-of-3d.html think they are missing the words BBC in that venture. ohhh are also getting..... UHD/super hi-vision http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tech/new...hi-vision.html |

If this is presented in side by side or TB 3D, it should be pretty impressive on a 3DTV. I saw one example of the track and field in 3D and it looked great in 3D.
I don't have access to this in 3D, so I'm out of luck this year. Too bad they don't offer it on blu ray 3D later on, just showing all of the gold medal events of every sport including archery, weight lifting, and most of the rare events they never show on NBC, which mostly just shows swimming, diving, track and field and gymnastics. Maybe it'll be different this year or did I miss the events last time? |

I just found this for ATT Uverse subscribers.
SECAUCUS, NJ (July 20, 2012) – NBC Olympics, a division of the NBC Sports Group and Panasonic Corporation of North America today announced that the first-ever 3D coverage of the Olympic Games, beginning in London later this month, will be available to subscribers of MVPD’s (multichannel video programming distributors) representing nearly 80% of U.S. TV households. The daily 3D programming, which will be shown on next-day delay, will be carried by many cable, satellite and telco providers such as such as Armstrong, AT&T, Blue Ridge, Bright House Networks, Cablevision, Comcast, Cox Communications, DIRECTV, Insight, Mediacom, RCN, Suddenlink, Time Warner Cable, Verizon, and WideOpen West. These carriers will distribute roughly 242 hours of the 3D broadcasts via the Media Center. Panasonic is NBC Olympics’ exclusive Flat-Panel HDTV and Blu-ray Disc Player advertiser for the London Olympic Games. |

CTV is carrying the Olympics in Canada and a Panasonic rep told me recently that as of right now they aren't planning on showing any of the 3D footage. Time to start giving them grief on their facebook page.

I have Comcast and they just added ch. 333 in my line-up for NBC Olympics 3D. It's already showing some side by side 3D programming. Looking forward to the opening ceremonies next Saturday! |

Fios does both. 1080 side by side and 720 top bottom. ESPN happens to be 720p so espn 3d is top bottom. NBC is normally 1080i. But not sure if they will carry over to this olympic feed.

So it's starting to look like Charter is the only major service not offering a 3D channel. I'm not surprised, but it's very annoying.
