Looks like there will also be a 800 and 850?

Because at CES they talked about THX displays, and IP features. Gotta be the 800 and 850.

That may answer my question above about 24p.

maybe the 800 and 850 do the Cinematic?

I think I know what your asking its hard for me to explain. Anyway 3:2 pull down is how it was dealt with & still is in TV's with out the 24fps capability's . When they say cinema there talkin about ie: Blu-ray, there 1080p at 24fps so your getting even better than before....In your own opinion of course . Plasma's have such good PQ that my 50''720p/1080i looks so f-ing good it scary! Then my 1080p sets are even better 50'' & up.

Nice find!

I am looking forward to see some reviews of these new sets specially the new contrast ratio claims! Hope they get on the same level as the Pioneer (so that the Kuro prices fall!)

Also I hope that the 24p they announce is not a lame attempt to rename the 3:2 pull down conversion.

Just had this very useless Chat on Panny's site.

Quote:
Thank you for contacting Panasonic Plasma Concierge. You will be connected to an Expert momentarily.

You are now chatting with 'Al', your Panasonic Plasma Expert.
Al: Thank you for contacting Panasonic Plasma Concierge. How may I help you today?
Matt: Hello I noticed today the 80 and 85 models are on the website. Any idea when the 800 and 850 will be
Al: April 2008.
Matt: will the 800 and 850 do 24p Cinematic? I noticed the 80 and 85 only do 24p 2:3.
Al: Don't have enough info yet on these models. We usually don't get a spec sheet until about one week before they are released.
Some ****ing expert.

that's what worries me. I've been waiting for the 8 series, and now it seems I got some faulty info. I have a document that said the PZ85's would do 24p native, but now it looks like its just the 800 and 850. (the two that are not on the panny site yet).

I've been waiting for these new Plasmas since I saw them at CES. They look great. I am also waiting for the new Pioneer VSX-1018 and Sony STR-DG920 Receivers due in June. I haven't decided which one yet. Both are $599

That's incorrect. The 24fps capability is the ability to recognize and handshake with a 1080p24 signal. The TV's with only 60Hz refresh rate will perform 3:2 pulldown, but other sets like the Pioneer KURO line have a 72Hz refresh rate and will perform 3:3 pulldown, thus elimating any judder than 3:2 causes by adding uneven frames.

No that's not what they're saying. Panasonic cinema mode uses 2:2 pulldown on the 24fps, displaying it at 48Hz. The -800 and -850 series will have this feature, the other sets will only have 24fps with 3:2 pulldown - 60Hz.

BrahmaBull is right, the -85 and -80 series do 3:2 pulldown, the -800 and -850 are the only ones with a refresh rate that's a multiple of 24.
