BR drive or PS3 ?

PC is more upgradeable than a ps3 and thus more futureproof. All a PS3 is, is a standardized PC so Game Devs can make games without the need to worry about optimization. This also means it's less futureproof. Movie wise though they are the same.

With the system you're getting you'll be happy, but buy the full version of Powerdvd ultra, don't use the oem.

Also you could get a drive that just reads blu-ray for less than the rewriter.

And your PC is already better than the PS3 hardware. The Drive is just a drive, it's the software that makes it futureproof. PS3 is better than a standalone because it's built for gaming. Gaming PC's were better than the PS3 before the PS3 even came out. It's all about optimization.
