It's definitely fun to watch on the big screen. But I wouldn't necessarily you have to see it in theaters to enjoy it. But it's definitely visual eye candy, so that's always fun to see in a theater.

I don't know about that. I only own 16 of them and want to own the other 4 (both Indy films, The Prestige, and Rocky Balboa)...

Wait, there's no Underworld. I have to automatically dismiss your list then.

I'm not sure where Underworld would fall on a list, but its somewhere in there with my 4.5s

Default A Movie A Day: Day 109

The Bourne Ultimatum (2007)
The best installment in the series. Balances action and drama better than the other films. Highlight is, without a doubt, the Tangier chase sequence. The car chase scene is great as well (again). Shaky cam is not as overused as in the second film. A little chemistry between Damon and Stiles would've been nice. After revisiting the original trilogy, the Bourne series is not as bad as I once thought, although there are certainly other more superior action flicks than these. Overall: Ultimatum > Identity > Legacy > Supremacy.

Nope. I just agree with everything else.

Chances are that I'll either give Bourne Legacy a rent, or I'll buy it as part of a four-movie box set (in which case it'll be because I like BU and have good feelings about BL).

12 Angry Men

People were so impatient back in the 1950's

I found the film to be all kinds of great. It's edge of the seat stuff with no guns or car chases or explosions, you're constantly wondering how this one Henry Fonda is going to change everyone else's mind within the hour and a half. Every piece of evidence is gradually eroded down by theories and opposing proof until the tide completely turns. Now, I guess that at the end, you never really find out that the kid was guilty or innocent, which is a tad disappointed, since there is a high probability that the 18 Year Old had in-fact got away with murder, but I guess that's not the point of the story, the point is to be responsible with your responsibility, greater the responsibility, the more you have to consider your decisions. Not exactly complex message, but it makes for a pretty compelling film.

And of course, everything around the film is stellar, the acting and writing is top notch, feeling very natural and the progression of the characters change of heart is well done and never feels too questionable, although I wish the more extremest character weren't so unlikeable and dismissive, but I guess that's all due to how easy Henery Fonda's character wins you over in the end. I guess one of the things that works so well for the film is that you follow the characters journey with them, you start off believing there is no possible way that the kid could be innocent, and then you gradually begin to change your mind along with them. I have to say, kudos, that's pretty crafty craftmanship!

Default A Movie A Day: Day 110

Paranormal Activity 3 (2011)
Not as creepy as the first one. Fan camera is a simple yet brilliant idea. The babysitter and the Bloody Mary sequences are the most effective. Ending is . Ultimately feels more like an unnecessary cash-in.

One of my favorite classics. It's so simple, it's perfect. Lumet is the master of single-setting movies. I don't know if you've already seen it, but his Dog Day Afternoon is also an incredible work. Pacino is just flat-out amazing in that one. I highly recommend it.

Over the past few days...all blind-buys...

"Blithe Spirit"

Another one of those movies that's basically a play put on the big screen (well, coming from the Noel Coward box set, that's expected). Fortunately, this is one of the more entertaining films in the set; it is pretty darn amusing to watch this couple fight over a ghost. Still not the most thrilling or funniest story ever made, and overall the story doesn't have that much structure or conflict. It makes for a quaint, wholesome, classy type of film.

3.5/5 (Entertainment: Pretty Good | Story: Pretty Good | Film: Good)

Recommendation: Sure, why not?

The Blu-Ray looks gorgeous; colors might be a bit dulled, with some minor flickering, but it's still sharp and clean as Hell. Sound quality is good and clean too.

PQ: 4.5/5, AQ: 4.5/5

"In Which We Serve"

The bad news: like every other film in this Noel Coward box set, there's some drag with a lot of domestic drama and stuff. The good news: as expected, this is probably the most worthwhile film, with its really cool war footage. The story and characters aren't huge standouts for me, but at least it's captured with brilliant cinematography.

3.5/5 (Entertainment: Pretty Good | Story: Pretty Good | Film: Good)

Recommendation: Sure, why not?

This Blu-Ray looks and sounds great.

PQ: 4.5/5, AQ: 4.5/5

So, in the Noel Coward/David Lean box set, I rated two of the films a meager 3/5 and two of them a modest 3.5/5. Not really as great of a deal as I would have preferred, but I'll at least find some redeeming value with "IWWS" and "BS."

"Outland"

Sci-fi! This is more up my alley! I understand that this is Peter Hyams' solution for being denied the opportunity of making a western; "Outland" definitely carries over the elements of a western and makes very effective use of the deep space settings to accentuate the story and set it apart from a standard western setup. The story covers familiar territory, with one man standing up against corruption; it's the kind of thing that could fit in any genre. Sean Connery plays his character impeccably, and it is filled with a decent amount of depth and introspection. What's more, the model work in this film is gorgeous!

4/5 (Entertainment: Good | Story: Very Good | Film: Good)

Recommendation: Yes! Rent it!

This Blu-Ray looks and sounds great!

PQ: 4.5/5, AQ: 4.5/5

"The Three Musketeers" 2011

All style, no substance. But Hell, the style is freaking awesome!!! Might be the closest thing we have right now to an "Assassins Creed" film.

4/5 (Entertainment: Very Good | Story: Average | Film: Pretty Good)

Recommendation: Probably not.

I would love to blind buy this at some point since it seems like something I could really enjoy.

Although the $11.99 price is decent, I'll likely wait until it's cheaper since I'm backed up on movies quite a bit with all of these deals and such lately.
