How's it going Russ?

I don't even own a cassette player anymore, but I do still have a VHS that hasn't been turned on in ages.

Prior to and even into the new (at the time CD format) I loved making compilations for myself, friends and family on the then familiar cassette format. I haven't had a VHS machine in my house since my old NEC machine went down in the 90's .

Wow, that's a lot of tapes. I never had quite that many.

I was running out of room on my BD shelves not long ago, but now most of them are empty. After I get my bills caught up, I plan to start filling them back up. I doubt that I'll replace all of the ones I've sold, but probably a good bit of them.

I used to do the same thing. I still occasionally make CD compilations.

I have a hi-fi VHS/DVD combo player, but haven't used it in years. I might try to sell it soon, but I would probably only get about $10 for it, if that much.

Funny because i love all types of music except the last decade of mostly watered out pop music. Sadly not many young people that i know listen too real music made with instruments or original sounding computer generated music anymore.

My fear is that music gets a second place and only the image of the "artists" end up being important.

Although it seems that some of the "spark" is slowly coming back but it's too early too say. Hard for me too tell as i've been kind of hiding from modern music ever since i started hearing were it was heading.

Get with the times old man.

No, I feel the same way. It seems that most new "artists" are judged more by their clothes and image than by the quality and integrity of their music.

Actually last time i did this was close too 10 years ago. My friends have always been more too hip-hop and electronic music. Exept one who like the same as me but also electronic music. So that could ofcause be a reason. But the other folks hanging out at the party are even more boring and only want too hear what's cool at that month.

My primary love is for hard/alternative rock and most pop people think that's very boring and uninteresting. But i understand what they're thinking cus i fell the same way for their music.

Maybe im too hard on folks since not everyone have a such refined musical sense/ear that i have. I can "smell" bad recordings a mile away.

Although my favorite music is what I would call "classic progressive rock", such as Jeff Beck, Rush, King Crimson, Frank Zappa, Primus, I also like lots of other stuff too. I have several different CD cases with different categories. One is classic rock/funk, another is progressive music, another is jazz/blues/classical, and another is metal/hard rock/industrial, plus most of my hard drive on my computer is filled up with all kinds of stuff too.

When Russ said "Rubbit", it reminded me of a Frank Zappa song called "Nanook Rubs It".

It's a silly song about a fur trapper beating on an Eskimo boy's favorite baby seal, and the Eskimo boy proceeds to pick up some snow that a dog had peed on, and rubs it into the fur trappers eyes. I think the Eskimo boy's name was Nanook.

I made one a while ago that I floated around here (LDG & EJ have copies) that was an ??????????? I don't know how to explain it.

Ask them

I'm thinking about putting together a Jazz/Rock Fusion series featuring Brand X, Bruford, Allan Holdsworth, Jean Luc Ponty, Gong and others

Stay tuned...........
