I can't imagine it breaking any records. It will be released months after the fact. It will probably do well, but I'd say only as well as the HD DVD did.

Edit: Unless it gets bundled with something.

I'm just here to join the chorus of "Thank You"'s. Thanks for all of the information/support, Penton-Man AND all of Blu-Ray.com's contributors (both official and unofficial on this forum)! It's been a wild year, but I'm glad that we ended up on-top!

Okay, not sure who would be best to ask (was going to ask paidgeek but I see he's travelling)...

...but I see some interesting FUD being spread now that I'd like to kill...

"Sony retains controlling interest and development authority for the BluRay Disc Association. And, since the development war is over, I imagine they will go ahead with the surface oxidizer layer making the media self-destructive as a means of DRM in the very near future."

(In the meantime I'm doing the research to dispute that myself.)

Also dont forget this FUD:

Toshiba's flash memory HDM will kill BD.

Do people really think this is viable any time soon?

Congratulations, Penton, Paid, Maxpower, the other insiders and all your companies, for your brilliant victory!

Please remember that the real war -- taking over DVD -- is barely starting now...

You might want to be careful there, as I hear coyotes get very offended if you call them wolves.

Since someone mentions this about every three seconds on this forum, I don't see how anybody could possible forget.

Thanks Penton for all of your insight into this war, and for all those coded messages, which I guess will now be a thing of the past?

I would hope that at this junction (after Uni/Para announce) that they can be a bit more open with plans to make DVD obsolete. I'm not sure if that would really need to be covered by the NDA. I'd hope that PM and other insiders stick around to pass the good word as to how we phase out SD technology in the movie sector.

PS: Thank you Penton and all the other lurker insiders fighting the good fight for Blu on the front lines and behind the scenes. You have my respect in the way you handled yourself professionally in the face of unethical business behavior. Part of your professionalism is exactly why I bought into Blu to begin with.

Thanks for all the hard work, Penton. Your level of professionalism in the face of certain "opposition" is something for which you should be commended.

The above quote almost feels like a April Fool's joke... I'm SO glad it's not!

Default What a perfect day!

It's a beautiful, crisp day here in Kelowna, and the sky is a glowing Blu. That, and today's news about Toshiba calling it quits--and therefore Blu-ray winning--makes today, as Lou Reed would say, perfect.

Way to go guys, and many thanks to Penton, Max, Paid, and all our other wonderful, true, insiders for their hard work!

It seems only one person here got the hint with the YouTube video that I posted last night.

It all depends upon how *confidential* the future cutting edge information is.
I kinda enjoy doing it because I think you guys should have to work for freebie info.

*P.S.
In that regard, I hope that I didn’t invoke the wrath of anyone at SPE Asset Management with my last post concerning the LoA new transfer.
