Im really not up to par on a lot of the technology lingo and some of what you said I don't fully understand.
Either way, I am as well a 40gig PS3 owner with Rock Band. To fix the USB port problem I simply went to the local eletronic store and bought a USB HUB. It holds 4 USB ports and only needs to plug into 1. So far it has worked fine for me, although whenever i want to play Rock Band I have to unplug the port and than plug it back in. That 4th port is eagerly awating the arrival of the stand alone guitars that are supposed to arrive in April, woot! Sorry if some of this post was noobish.
