Meet THE RAID Sequel's Hammer Girl

With Gareth Huw Evans' The Raid: Redemption available today on DVD and BluRay across North America and the director gearing up to head in to pre-production on the sequel - Berandal - in September, Evans has given fans a little taste of what the future has in store.

Evans tweeted the image above yesterday. It's concept art for a Berandal character known simply as Hammer Girl. Will she be working with or against Iko Uwais' Rama character? Nobody is saying yet but you can be damn sure she knows how to use the hardware she's holding.

I am more than excited to see a sequel to THE RAID.

It's from January so who knows how much has changed since then, but can you imagine a car chase by the film's amazing stunt team?

There were hints of this hitting the Cannes film festival, but it didn't look like that worked out, hopefully it soon to be complete though.

It started filming in January '13 with a 100-day shooting schedule. Who hinted at this improbability?

I saw a list with possible Cannes entries around April and this was one that popped up, granted the list was rather loose.

The only thing that's been divulged is the fact it takes place on the same day as the first one and there's going to be a ton of crazy stuff like a fight between three people in a car that's done in one whole take.

According to an interview with Gareth Evans in a recent issue of Empire, it takes place in a prison.

Rama is an undercover cop sent into prison on a mission. Although, only part of it takes place in a prison because

Some of Rama's adversaries in Berandal include The Assassin, The Baseball Bat Guy, Hammer Girl and everyone's favourite Mad Dog will return to play a "machete-wielding henchman"

I'm anxious about this. I just hope they stay simple, because that's what I like about the first. Now, I hope they go bigger and get creative with the fights and choreography. But as far as the story, I hope they don't cram in too much. Hopefully the sequel will be done right and doesn't stray off in some crazy direction.

From the sound of it there, it looks like the same actor in a different role. Either that or he comes back from the grave (halogen light still in place of throat)

Yeah, as Foggy said, it will be the same actor in a different role.
I'm sure he'll look different so people don't notice and be like, "hey, that's Mad Dog!"

Also, its not a prequel but is set shortly after The Raid from what I gather
