I've heard lots for and lots against a PS3 as your Bd player if you dont plan on gaming.

Personally i was in the same boat with deciding what to do. I never play games or care to and i heard PS3 was a great player. To make a long story short i chose a stand alone player... the samsung 1400 to be exact. I haven't had any problems, it loads fast enough for me, i dont know why people complain about a minute load time, thats just pathetic to say the least.

Since i dont game i decided why would i want a PS3 which looks ugly to me among my other components doing the same thing a stand alone will do but look much better. Not to mention cheaper... I got mine for a little over 300 and the cheapest PS3 is just over 400... anyway... I guess the PS3's that i've seen play BD hasnt impressed me... and i dont dig the dumb navigation menus or the controller remote (although you can buy one for about 30 more dollars).

I dont mean to bash on PS3,,, a lot of people love it and im sure for a lot of reasons.... just do your research and decide what you really want a BD player to do and go from there.... some people including me couldnt care less about profile 2.0 for buying crap off of a movie... i mean seriously, who would do that...
