best highdef projector for $1000

im helping a friend research a HD projector as he doesnt have access to internets. So ive already done some researching for him and ive came onto the Mitsubishi HC1500 Projector.

but anyone know something better at around the same price range?

preferably with wide placement possibilities. he need something that can do short throw but im just trying to find some other options for him.

any helps greatly appreciated.

- Does it need to be 1080p?
- What kinda of lighting conditions will he be using it for most of the time?
- check projectorcentral's throw distance calculator may help narrow the search

well your best bet isn't going to be 1080p because 1080p projector isn't that cheap.
Optoma HD70 will be alright, the mitsubishi is also very good

Get the HC1500 my friend. I have the HC3000 which was its predecessor and all I can say is that I've been loving it for the past year and a half. They both pretty much have the same specs. If and when you do get it, make sure you chose 1080i/60 when watching Blu-rays. In that mode, you'll get the best PQ.

BTW, if you do some research online, you'll probably be able to find it for less than $850.
